Pretending to be an insurance agent, Thanh defrauded and appropriated money from a series of unemployed workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hai Duong Provincial Police have just announced that the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department has just clarified the fraud and money appropriation of Nguyen Tat Thanh (born 2000, from district Y Yen, Nam Dinh province, currently living in My Phuc commune, My Loc district, Nam Dinh province).

On November 1, 2021, the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention received a complaint from Ms. TTH, residing in Minh Hoa commune, Kinh Mon town, a social insurance agent of Hai Duong province, Kinh Mon town branch.

Ms. H. reported that someone else used her image on the Facebook account "TH" as the profile picture of her Zalo and other Facebook accounts to defraud and appropriate money from a series of unemployed workers.

Conducting verification, the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention identified the related subject as Nguyen Tat Thanh.

Working with the police, Thanh confessed that through the social network Facebook, he saw many people wanting to register for the package.unemployment supportof social insurance so the intention of fraud arose to get money to spend.

In September 2021, the subject opened a Facebook account named "social insurance", a Zalo account named "Huyen insurance" and then downloaded the profile picture from Ms. TTH's Facebook "TH" as the profile picture to create trust for the victims.

Posing as a social insurance employee, Thanh made friends and communicated with people who needed to complete procedures to receive unemployment insurance money, asking these people to pay fees (from 500 thousand to 2 million VND) into a bank account provided by Thanh to complete the procedures. After the victims transferred the fees, Thanh cut off contact and appropriated the money.

Using the above trick, from September to the end of October 2021, Thanh defrauded 14 people for a total of VND 19,413,000. These victims were mainly workers in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces who were unemployed due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

After clarifying Thanh's fraudulent act of appropriating property, the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department handed over the case file and the subject to the Investigation Police Agency of My Loc District Police, Nam Dinh Province to continue investigating and handling according to their authority.

On January 20, 2022, the Investigation Police Agency of My Loc District Police, Nam Dinh Province issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Nguyen Tat Thanh to investigate the act of fraud and appropriation of property.
