Nguyen Anh Dung (employee of Mobile World Joint Stock Company) was accused of fraud, appropriating 139 iPhone14 Promax mobile phones of the company and then selling them to customers to get money to spend and play with virtual money.

The Hanoi People's Procuracy has just completed the indictment to prosecute defendant Nguyen Anh Dung (born in 1999, in Long Bien district; employee of the supermarket block of Mobile World Joint Stock Company) for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

According to the indictment, Mobile World Joint Stock Company (headquartered at 128 Tran Quang Khai Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) signed a labor contract for Nguyen Anh Dung to work as a supermarket employee from September 1, 2021.

After that, Dung was assigned to work at store number 21D Hang Bai (Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi). During the working process, Dung was given an employee identification number by the company to log into the system.

From the beginning of April 2023, Dung started playing virtual currency, suffered losses, and had the intention of appropriating the company's assets.

Dung gave false information to Mr. Nguyen Van Kien (assistant manager of The Gioi Di Dong store at 21D Hang Bai) that he had a regular customer who wanted to buy a large number of phones outside the system. Dung lied that he would sell the phones at a high price to earn more income and increase sales for the store. Trusting Dung, Mr. Kien agreed to confirm the import of goods.

In addition, Dung asked Mr. Tran Van Quang (assistant manager of The Gioi Di Dong store at 412 Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Hanoi) to create orders to request devices from other stores. Dung also gave Mr. Quang false information as he had introduced to Mr. Kien and promised to pay the company in full immediately after receiving the goods.

Using the above trick, from the beginning of April 2023 to April 23, 2023, Dung used the employee code to request orders to import phones from stores in the same system to the 21D Hang Bai store and asked Mr. Quang to pick up the phones at the stores and bring them to the company's warehouse at 21D Hang Bai for Dung.

Dung took a total of 139 mobile phones including 50 iPhone14 Promax 128Gb version and 89 iPhone14 Promax 256Gb version.

The allegation is that, after collecting goods from the company, Dung introduced to customers Mr. Tran Van S. (born in 1991, in Nam Tu Liem district) and Mr. Thai Van L. (born in 1995, in Tay Ho district) that the Mobile World Joint Stock Company system had a discount code for employees to buy iPhone14 Promax mobile phones, 128Gb and 256Gb versions, but had to pay in advance.

Believing Dung, from April 19-23, 2023, Mr. S. and L. transferred a total of 3.7 billion VND to Dung's personal account to buy goods.

After receiving the money, Dung lied to Mr. Nguyen Van Kien about having a customer order a large quantity of phones. Then, Dung used the employee code to place orders to buy phones from stores on the system.

Taking advantage of a loophole in the software of the "in-transit" goods status management system, Dung did not register the phone number on the ERP system for phone requests from other stores.

After receiving 139 phones in the above system, Dung appropriated them and sold them to Mr. S. and Mr. L., without issuing sales invoices on the company's system. Dung used the money received from the two customers for personal expenses and to buy virtual currency.

According to the asset valuation conclusion, the total value of the 139 iPhone14 Promax 128Gb and 256Gb mobile phones mentioned above is nearly 4 billion VND. The family of the defendant Nguyen Anh Dung voluntarily paid 120 million VND. Mobile World Joint Stock Company requested the defendant to compensate the amount of more than 3.8 billion VND that he had appropriated.
