Corn imports in 2025 are projected to decrease by 4.8% in volume, reaching over 11.9 million tons.
Vietnam's total corn imports in 2025 are expected to reach over $2.95 billion, a decrease of 2.9% compared to the previous year, while the average import price increased slightly by 2.1%.
According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's corn imports in 2025 showed a downward trend in both volume and value. Specifically, the total amount of imported corn reached over 11.91 million tons, equivalent to a value of more than 2.95 billion USD. The average import price for the year remained at 248.1 USD/ton, an increase of 2.1% compared to 2024.
Significant fluctuations in the last month of 2025.
Notably, the market recorded a surge in December 2025. During that month, corn imports reached 1.51 million tons, valued at $366.98 million. Compared to November 2025, these figures increased by 59.1% in volume and 61.3% in value, respectively. The average import price in December reached $242.3 per ton, a 1.6% increase from the previous month.
Compared to the same period in December 2024, corn imports increased by 7.8% and value increased by 6.9%, however, the average price recorded a slight decrease of 0.8%.
Market structure of supply: Argentina and Brazil are dominant.
Argentina continues to maintain its position as the largest supplier of corn to the Vietnamese market. In 2025, this South American country supplied 5.54 million tons, accounting for 46.5% of the total volume and 46.7% of the total value of Vietnam's corn imports. However, compared to 2024, the supply from Argentina decreased by 13.4% in volume and 10.1% in value, while the export price to Vietnam increased by 3.8%.
Brazil ranked second with 4.15 million tons, valued at $996.01 million. This market accounted for 34.8% of the volume and 33.7% of the total value of Vietnam's corn imports. Similar to Argentina, imports from Brazil also decreased by 15.3% in volume and 16.2% in value, with the average price falling by 1.1% to $240.2 per ton.
The emergence of supply from Cambodia
A new development in the 2025 agricultural import landscape is the presence of the Cambodian market. Vietnam imported 122,435 tons of corn from this neighboring country, equivalent to a value of US$27.88 million. The average import price from Cambodia reached US$227.7/ton, lower than the average from South American markets. It should be noted that in 2024, Vietnam did not import any corn from this market.
