Japan: 1,600 Vietnamese people living in earthquake area
(Baonghean.vn) - Kyodo news agency reported that about 44,400 people were evacuated and more than 100 aftershocks occurred, with magnitudes ranging from 5.7 to 6.4 Rrchter after the earthquake that occurred on the evening of April 14 in Kumamoto province, central Kyushu island, southwest Japan. There is currently no information related to Vietnamese casualties or damage.

Several buildings collapsed, but the nuclear plants were safe, according to local media. More than 400 people were taken to hospital. Local officials said many more people may be buried under collapsed buildings. |

According to statistics from Japanese authorities, as of June 2015, there were approximately 1,600 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Kumamoto. Currently, the Vietnamese Embassy as well as the Consulate General in Fukuoka are still maintaining contact with Japanese authorities to update the situation. |
