Japan sets up a special force to monitor Senkaku
Japanese media reported on January 29 that the government has decided to establish a special force to improve surveillance capabilities in the waters surrounding the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands disputed with China.

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) has officially decided to establish a task force with 12 patrol ships and 600 soldiers from now until 2015 to strengthen maritime surveillance activities, especially in the disputed islands.
JCG also included the cost of 20 ships and 13 aircraft in the 2013 fiscal year budget approved by the government./.
