Telling a story set in the 1930-1945 era, the film invested heavily in recreating the old setting with many antique furniture and old-style costumes, causing the filming time to be long and the production cost to reach over 150 million VND.

The two roles played by Nhat Kim Anh and Cao Minh Dat have fates spanning from youth to old age, requiring deep psychological acting and meticulous makeup from the two actors.
Sharing about the movie 'Storm', Nhat Kim Anh lamented: "There has never been a movie as difficult as this one." Playing the female lead Thi Binh, the actress had to personally perform many dangerous scenes such as being beaten, running barefoot on the dike and the most haunting scene was jumping into the river to commit suicide at 1-2 am.
