Japan and the US agree to soon hold a meeting between Mr. Abe and Trump
NHK reported that an aide to the Japanese prime minister and the security adviser in the incoming US administration agreed on the importance of arranging an early summit between Shinzo Abe and Donald Trump.

Special advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, Mr. Kawai Katsuyuki, met with former Director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency Michael Flynn in Washington on January 6.
Mr. Flynn has been nominated by Mr. Trump for the position of National Security Advisor.
Mr. Kawai and Mr. Flynn agreed that the important Japan-US alliance cannot be changed by the new US administration and that as it is a solid alliance, it should be further strengthened and developed.
The two officials also agreed that the meeting between Mr. Abe and Mr. Trump should be held immediately after Mr. Trump's inauguration on January 20.
Mr. Kawai also suggested that Mr. Trump soon visit Japan./.
