Japan tightens visa regulations for Vietnamese students

From March 1, 2019, those who want to apply for a visa to study in Japan must submit a certificate of high school graduation issued by the Center for Diploma Recognition, Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training.

The Japanese Embassy recently announced that from March 1, 2019, all applicants for student visas to Japanese language teaching institutions in this country must submit a certificate of high school graduation in their visa application.

Notably, this high school diploma certificate must be issued by the Diploma Recognition Center, Department of Quality Management of the Ministry of Education and Training (VN-NARIC).

Quy định mới nhằm hạn chế những hành vi lợi dụng con đường du học để lao động trái phép tại Nhật

New regulations aim to limit the use of studying abroad to work illegally in Japan.

Accordingly, individuals can find instructions on "Issuing a certificate of high school graduation" on the center's website (https://naric.edu.vn/cong-nhan-van-bang-ket-qua-hoc-tap-cho-cong-dan-viet-nam-ra-nuoc-ngoai-hoc-tap-lam-viec.html).

The individual then fills in the required information on the application form, scans the high school diploma and emails it to[email protected].

The fee for each certificate issuance is 350,000 VND. The issuance time is about 20 days from the date of receiving the application.

The reason for this change, given by the Embassy, is that in recent years there have been cases of fake high school diplomas and study abroad consulting companies providing incorrect guidance on studying in Japan.

To resolve this, the Japanese Embassy coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Training to implement the above measures.

"The Embassy of Japan requests international students and technical interns to strictly comply with the regulations, to prevent them from having to bear a large debt and experiencing an undesirable life in Japan," the notice on the Embassy of Japan's website said.

Việt Nam là một trong những quốc gia đóng góp du học sinh đến Nhật nhiều nhất

Vietnam is one of the countries that contribute the most international students to Japan.

Earlier in February, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam also sent a warning to the Department of Education and Training of provinces and cities and many schools across the country to prevent students from being deceived and having to bear large debts.

One of the incorrect forms of advertising is "studying and working part-time can earn over 30,000 yen (about 60 million VND) per month", "during studying abroad, income from part-time jobs can not only cover all tuition and living expenses but can also be sent back home", or "the hourly salary is 3,000 yen (about 600,000 VND)"...

Therefore, the Embassy of Japan recommends that students and parents should follow study abroad information at reputable websites such as the Embassy website, the Consulate General website or the Japan Student Support Organization.
