Vietnamese photographer wins first prize in international competition.
The awards ceremony for the winners of the New Exposure international photography contest, organized by Vogue magazine, Red Camera, and Bottega Veneta in the US, recently took place in New York, and photographer An Le from Vietnam was honored.
Outperforming over 500 contestants from countries around the world, An Le – a photographer who recently graduated from Sannavah University of Art and Design in the US – received the highest score from the judging panel for her photo series "The Old Man and the Sea".
"I like to place objects side-by-side and use contrast. For me, whether it's photographing a real object or nature, women or men, the works need to stir up a sense of unease in the viewer, making them feel anything but indifferent," An Le shared.
His photograph reflects the turmoil and troubles that befall the family of an old man living by the sea. One day, the old man finds a giant egg in the ocean. Under his care, the egg hatches into a girl. The appearance of the beautiful girl brings turmoil to the old man's family, causing his wife, a woman facing old age, to become sad and inevitably jealous. Finally, he takes the girl back to the sea on a stormy day.
To create this photo series, An Lê received assistance from the creative and production team of Đẹp magazine, where he is currently collaborating. The resulting photos perfectly reflect what the Đẹp team always adheres to: passion, creativity, and professionalism.
It has been announced that the work "The Old Man and the Sea" will be exclusively published in the August issue of Dep magazine.
