Many bridges in the mountainous commune of Son Lam were deeply submerged due to heavy rain.

According to reports, in some low-lying areas and along streams, strong currents from upstream have temporarily cut off many local transportation routes. Given the complex weather situation, local authorities have quickly implemented response measures to ensure the safety of residents.

In Son Lam commune, four bridges and culverts on inter-communal roads were found to be deeply submerged, with strong currents, making travel difficult for residents and posing a potential safety risk.

In response to this situation, the People's Committee of Son Lam commune directed the commune's Civil Defense Command, the police force, the military, and the disaster prevention and response task forces to strengthen their duty shifts and patrols in vulnerable areas.

At flooded bridges and culverts, authorities have stationed personnel to guide and prevent people from crossing when it is unsafe.

Mr. Trinh Van Bang, Chairman of the Son Lam Commune People's Committee, said: After heavy rains caused flooding on several bridges in the commune, the local authorities have informed and advised people not to fish, collect firewood, wade through streams, or gather to watch the floodwaters in dangerous areas. Absolutely do not cross bridges or culverts when the water level is rising.

In addition, people are urged to proactively monitor weather forecasts, raise awareness of disaster prevention, and promptly report any landslides, flooding, or unusual situations to the authorities.

Besides affecting traffic, heavy rains have also caused many spring rice fields across the province, which are entering the harvesting period, to be flattened and flooded, causing significant losses for farmers. Previously, due to heavy rains and thunderstorms, thousands of hectares of spring rice in many localities had been flattened by the wind and rain, making harvesting difficult and increasing the risk of yield loss.

Many farmers were taking advantage of the dry weather to harvest their ripe rice crops early to minimize losses when heavy rains occurred.

According to forecasts, the weather in the area remains complex, with a risk of continued localized heavy rainfall and flash floods in the coming period.

In light of the heavy rains and flooding, authorities are advising people to proactively take precautions against adverse weather conditions to ensure the safety of their lives and property.
