On the afternoon of March 21, the Cancer Patient Support Fund - Bright Tomorrow (Ministry of Health) in collaboration with Nghe An Oncology Hospital and sponsors organized a series of meaningful charity programs to celebrate Social Work Day, March 25.

Spread love from hair

In the warm atmosphere of the meaningful festival, many gifts and practical support were given directly to disadvantaged cancer patients being treated at Nghe An Oncology Hospital. The program not only brought spiritual encouragement but also added motivation for them to confidently fight the disease.

With the desire to give more spiritual strength to cancer patients, the Cancer Patient Support Fund - Bright Tomorrow (Ministry of Health) and sponsors organized a meaningful program, giving away 50 wigs and nearly 100 gifts to patients in difficult circumstances, with a total value of nearly 250 million VND.

Hair is not only a part of appearance, but also a symbol of confidence and vitality. For cancer patients, chemotherapy causes pain, physical exhaustion and mental impact, especially when hair falls out. For many patients, losing hair means losing a part of themselves, making them feel self-conscious and afraid when facing themselves and those around them.

Ms. PTH (50 years old, residing in Nam Dan district), an ovarian cancer patient, currently being treated at Department of Internal Medicine V, Nghe An Oncology Hospital, emotionally shared: “The first time I saw myself in the mirror with a bald head, I cried a lot. But today, when I put on this wig, I feel like I am back to my old self, with more motivation to continue fighting the disease.”

Not only Mrs. H., but also dozens of other patients could not hide their emotions when receiving this special gift. It was not just a set of hair, but also a belief, a word of encouragement that they were not alone in the difficult journey ahead.

Raising Breast Cancer Awareness for Female Students

In addition to the hair donation activity, the program also organized a consultation session on “Raising awareness of breast cancer” for more than 500 female students and lecturers of Vinh University.

With the message “Grapefruit or lemon, healthy and fresh is beautiful”, the program provides important knowledge about breast cancer, early detection, treatment methods as well as a healthy lifestyle to prevent the disease.

Master, Doctor, Doctor Vu Dinh Giap - Head of Breast Surgery Department, Nghe An Oncology Hospital, emphasized: "Early detection of breast cancer is important in treatment, helping to increase the cure rate. We hope that the program will contribute to raising awareness among young people, especially female students, helping them to be more proactive in taking care of their own health."

Not only stopping at providing professional information, doctors also instruct students on how to self-examine their breasts at home - one of the simple but effective methods in detecting early signs of abnormalities.

The journey of sharing continues to spread

This series of humanitarian activities not only provides practical support to patients but also demonstrates the spirit of mutual love in the community. Social Work Day March 25 is an occasion to honor social workers and organizations and individuals who have contributed to helping those in difficult circumstances.
