On the alluvial land, many households regularly change the types of vegetables according to market demand such as squash, cucumber, mustard greens, spring onions, kohlrabi, cabbage, and green eggplant.

Mr. Nguyen The Phuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Son Commune said: In 2016, Phuc Son Commune, Anh Son planned 5 hectares in the lower area along the Lam River for specialized production of vegetables, of which 1 hectare was used as a safe vegetable production point. According to the production model, people were supported with 30 million VND for seeds and nitrogen fertilizer. It is estimated that the income from winter vegetables on the alluvial land brought Phuc Son people over 120 million VND/ha.

This winter crop, Anh Son district has over 300 hectares of various vegetables and beans, an increase of 50 hectares compared to 2015, including 50 hectares on alluvial land along Lam River, concentrated in Thach Son, Phuc Son and Lang Son communes. In Nghi Loc, the 2016 winter crop in Nghi Loc district produced over 4,000 hectares, including 2,700 hectares of corn, 450 hectares of peanuts and 900 hectares of various vegetables. Currently, the crops are in the development and growth stage.

Ms. Tran Thi Vinh, Hamlet 8, Nghi Thuan Commune (Nghi Loc) shared: "This winter crop, my family planted 2 sao of chives. Previously, we planted them for food, but now we plant them for sale, so we apply balanced and proper fertilization methods, ensuring food hygiene and safety according to the instructions of the Plant Protection Station."

Currently, some localities have also proposed mechanisms to encourage farmers to develop new seedlings. For example, in Nghi Long, the People's Committee of the commune has a mechanism to support 100% of new seedlings for households expanding vegetable growing areas, giving priority to households with an area of 0.5 ha or more for concentrated planting. Thanks to timely guidance, the whole commune has produced 220 ha of winter crops, reaching 100% of the plan. The People's Committee of the commune actively propagates and urges people to take care of crops to increase production value per unit area, especially the 20 ha of vegetables that farmers need to take care of promptly to serve the consumer market during the upcoming Lunar New Year.

This winter crop of 2016, the whole Nghi Loc district produced over 4,000 hectares, including: 2,700 hectares of corn, 450 hectares of peanuts and 900 hectares of various vegetables. Currently, the crops are in the development and growth stage. Due to this year's erratic weather, from the beginning of the crop, the localities have coordinated with the Plant Protection Station and the District Agricultural Extension Station to train and transfer new science and technology, and at the same time, strengthen propaganda and guide farmers on the process of planting, caring, preventing and controlling pests and diseases.

Nghi Loc Agricultural Extension Station has coordinated with localities and mass organizations to organize more than 50 training courses on safe vegetable production techniques. Thousands of farmers have acquired knowledge from seed selection, fertilization, pest control to harvesting to improve economic efficiency.

According to gardeners' predictions, the price of green vegetables this year may be higher, due to natural disasters and floods that have prevented many areas from producing in time.
