Heavy, intense rain that has been falling continuously since yesterday evening has submerged many vegetable crops in Nghe An province, causing significant damage.

Bà Nguyễn Thị Hiền, nông dân xã Quỳnh Liên (TX.Hoàng Mai) cho biết: “Nhằm gối vụ gia đình đã gieo trồng 5 sào hành, đã đến thời gian thu hoạch thì bị mưa ngập, hỏng nặng. Với giá hành hiện tại 35 ngàn/kg, ước thiệt hại hàng chục triệu đồng”. Ông Hoàng Ngọc Anh, Chủ tịch Hội Nông dân xã Quỳnh Liên cho biết, do ảnh hưởng của mưa kéo dài, mặc dầu người dân đã chủ động khơi thông mương ,che chắn, di chuyển các loại rau lên khu vực ruộng cao, nhưng do mưa lớn đã ngập úng nhiều diện tích rau màu, chủ yếu là cải ngọt mới gieo trồng, su hào, bắp cải, su su đã ươm giống và gieo trồng nhưng đã bị thối, hỏng, gây thiệt hại nặng nề cho người dân. — Mr. Hoang Ngoc Anh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Quynh Lien commune, said that due to the prolonged rain, although people had proactively cleared ditches, covered and moved vegetables to higher ground, heavy rain flooded many areas of vegetable crops, mainly newly planted sweet cabbage, kohlrabi, cabbage, and chayote that had been sown and planted, causing heavy losses for the people.
