(Baonghean.vn) - Some subjects took advantage of the social distancing period to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic late at night to illegally exploit sand and gravel along the Lam River and were caught red-handed by the authorities.
On April 16, the Environmental Police Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) continuously discovered and caught in the Lam River area in the two districts of Hung Nguyen and Nam Dan many subjects using iron-hulled boats to illegally exploit sand and gravel on the riverbed.

At My Thanh hamlet, Xuan commune (Hung Nguyen), the authorities discovered and caught red-handed Pham Van Hung (born in 1982), residing in Chau Linh hamlet, Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province; Nguyen Thi Huyen (born in 1993), residing in hamlet 3, Hung Chinh commune, Vinh city) and Doan Van Lam (born in 1982), residing in My Thanh, Xuan Lam commune (Hung Nguyen) using iron-hulled boats equipped with high-capacity pumps to dredge sand on the riverbed.
All of the above subjects carried out the mining activities without procedures and documents authorized by competent authorities. The authorities seized 3 iron-hulled boats, pumps, tools used for sand mining and nearly 28 cubic meters of sand.
During an inspection at the river area in Thuong Tan Loc commune (Nam Dan), the authorities discovered an iron-hulled boat owned by Tran Anh (born in 1974), residing in hamlet 10, Vuong Loc commune, Can Loc district (Ha Tinh), illegally exploiting sand and gravel. The police drew up a record and temporarily detained 1 iron-hulled boat and more than 18 cubic meters of sand...

Continuing to inspect the Lam River basin in Trung Phuc Cuong Commune (Nam Dan), the authorities discovered that Tran Ngoc Minh (born in 1979), residing in Phu Xuan Hamlet, Trung Phuc Cuong Commune, was also illegally mining sand on the riverbed. The authorities temporarily seized 1 iron-hulled motorboat and 19.5 cubic meters of sand.
In all of the above violations, the authorities have drawn up records and suspended operations.
