Many families write applications to escape poverty thanks to a "strange" model

(Baonghean.vn) - The Women's Union of Nghia Dan district launched the 15+1 model in 25 communes and towns, helping hundreds of member households escape poverty sustainably.

Receiving us in the newly upgraded wooden house, everyone could not help but admire and praise Ms. To Thi Thuy and her husband from the Women's Association of Hamlet 5A, Nghia Mai Commune. Two years ago, Ms. Thuy's family was listed as a poor household in the commune, due to the circumstances of having young children, having to support an old and weak mother and a sick brother-in-law. However, thanks to diligence, hard work, and thrift, in 2017, her family boldly borrowed money from relatives and friends to properly renovate the house and voluntarily wrote a request to be removed from the "list" of poor households.

Also applying to escape poverty, Ms. Pham Thi Thu - a member of the Women's Union of U hamlet, Nghia Thang commune said: "Thanks to the help of the Women's Union at all levels, my family's difficulties have been reduced. Although we still have difficulties, last year, my family voluntarily applied to escape poverty, to save help for members who are in more difficult circumstances than my family, to help member families escape poverty soon."

Following Ms. Nguyen Thi Ty - President of the Women's Union of Nghia Thang commune to the family of Ms. Pham Thi Thu - a member of the Women's Union of U hamlet, a member's family in very difficult circumstances. The family is poor, the husband is sick and unable to work, the family has sought treatment everywhere for him and now his condition has improved. Despite the expense, every time the weather changes, she herself has pain due to bone and joint disease so she cannot do heavy work.

In 2017, her family received support from the Women's Union of the commune and a loan from the Policy Bank to develop the economy. Considering the difficult circumstances, her family was considered for support by the Women's Union at all levels and the Fatherland Front of the commune to build a charity house. Up to now, the family's economy has improved a bit. Her family voluntarily applied to escape poverty.

15+1 model efficiency
In Nghia Dan district, the fact that many women members have applied to escape poverty is a positive sign of the awareness and progress of the people. However, helping members' families escape poverty sustainably is a concern of the local Party Committee and authorities here. Therefore, in hamlet 5A, the district Women's Union coordinated with the hamlet women's union to launch the 15+1 movement to help Ms. Thuy's family buy a calf, create jobs, and increase income for the family. 15+1 is a model that mobilizes 15 members to contribute money to help 1 member.

The Women's Association of Hamlet 5A has 59 members, currently 5 of whom are poor. Recently, implementing the 15+1 movement, each member contributed 500,000 VND to buy livestock and seedlings to help women have jobs, increase income and improve their lives.

With the motto of supporting women with “fishing rods” but not with seeds. After 2 years of launching the 15+1 movement, 23/23 branches in Nghia Mai commune have built models. From 2017 to now, Nghia Mai commune Women's Union has supported 16 poor member households with capital, production materials and seeds of plants and animals with an amount of over 150 million VND.

Ms. Cao Thi Hong - President of the Women's Union of Nghia Mai commune said: "Nghia Mai is a particularly difficult commune, with a high rate of poor households. Therefore, there are still many difficulties in the implementation process. However, thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work, women have understood and effectively implemented this movement."
Up to now, after 2 years of launching the "15 + 1 Movement", the whole Nghia Dan district has helped 365 disadvantaged member families to escape poverty. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung - Vice President of the Women's Union of Nghia Dan district said: "Implementing Directive 05 of the Politburo, in the past time, 25 communes and towns organized the movement to follow Uncle Ho's example by specific actions such as implementing the movements "Savings tubes", Savings rice jars", "Savings working days"... and expanding into the 15 + 1 model to help many disadvantaged members to escape poverty sustainably./.
