Floodwaters swept away houses, isolating many villages in western Nghe An.

(Baonghean.vn) - Heavy rains after storm No. 3 have caused floodwaters in streams and creeks in the western region of Nghe An to rise, sweeping away houses and collapsing suspension bridge piers, cutting off traffic. Many other villages are also isolated.

Because it is located entirely in a "basin" area without a drainage system, the whole area has to endure the immense floodwaters every time there is prolonged heavy rain.

Currently, there are places where the water is nearly 2 meters deep, so 21 households in Cau hamlet, Con Cuong town are isolated, and the roads from the hamlet to the national highway are heavily flooded, making it impossible for people to travel.

According to local residents, almost every year during the rainy and stormy season, households here are isolated by floodwaters, but this year the storm came earlier than expected, and psychological preparation for flood prevention was not thorough.

Currently, the only means of transportation for households to travel outside are temporary rafts, making travel and daily life very difficult for people.

According to initial statistics, the sudden rise in floodwaters swept away some poultry, many households' pig farms were deeply submerged; the house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chau's family was half flooded, fortunately there were no human casualties.

Up to this point, the water level is still rising, facing that situation, the Con Cuong town government has assigned forces to be on duty 24/7, supporting people to evacuate their pets as well as necessary items; preparing rescue plans to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
