According to statistics from the Vinh Market Management Board, out of approximately 1,000 stalls in the main market building, about 60% have closed and ceased business in recent days. Photo: Quang An

According to our investigation, the main reason many small traders are closing their stalls is fear of inspections. Goods at Vinh Market often don't have price tags, and prices are determined by the buyer and seller. Some traders also shared that they import a large quantity of goods and cannot guarantee that all of them have the necessary documentation, so they fear being fined. (Photo: Nguyen Hai)

Besides worrying about inspection teams, some small traders also hope for a reduction in taxes and fees because business at traditional markets has not been favorable recently. Photo: Q.An

Besides the closed stalls, many others remain open for business as usual. The Vinh Market management board is currently encouraging and urging vendors to reopen their businesses; to sell goods with clear origins and comply with general legal regulations, protecting consumer rights.
