The Toyota Yaris has a starting price of 620 million VND in Vietnam.
The 2014 Yaris, a 5-door hatchback designed for women, has just been imported by Toyota Vietnam from Thailand with a retail price after tax starting from 620 million VND. Like its sedan sibling, the Vios, the 2014 Yaris features a redesigned, more youthful and modern look.
Contrary to expectations and the previous version, the 2014 Yaris is equipped with a 1.3-liter engine, seemingly similar to the lowest-spec Vios currently available in Vietnam. This engine delivers a maximum power of 84 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 121 Nm at 4,400 rpm, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Fuel consumption under standard conditions is only 5.7 liters/100 km. In terms of safety, the 2014 Yaris has 2 front airbags, ABS anti-lock braking system, EBD electronic brake force distribution, BA emergency brake assist, remote locking, and anti-theft system…
In Vietnam, the 2014 Yaris is imported directly from Thailand and is available in five colors: silver, gray, red, light blue, and white. It comes in two versions: the Yaris 1.3 G and the Yaris 1.3 E, priced at 669 and 620 million VND respectively. The importer aims to sell 120 Yaris units per month. See more...

Two popular Peugeot models arrive in Vietnam.
Genuine Peugeot 208 and 508 models, imported from France, have just arrived at Saigon port, helping the Peugeot brand continue to stir up the market after the launch of its first model, the Peugeot 408, at the end of 2013.
The Peugeot 208, a B-segment hatchback, has been a resounding success in the global market. Just over a year after its launch, by the end of 2013, global sales of all Peugeot 208 models had reached nearly 600,000 units, with over 330,000 units sold in 2013 alone.
In Europe, the Peugeot 208 consistently ranks among the top 10 best-selling models in many markets, with its home country of France being the second-best-selling model with sales reaching nearly 37,000 units in the first five months of 2014.
Meanwhile, the Peugeot 508 is also a top-selling model in the D-segment sedan category, with global sales exceeding 200,000 units in the last two years.

| Kia K3 - one of Thaco Kia's flagship models. |
This report indicates that, for the third consecutive month, Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) continued to lead the Vietnamese automotive market in sales with a total of 3,568 units, a 38% increase compared to the same period last year, and accounting for 36.2% of the market share among VAMA member companies. This position was achieved thanks to strong growth in sales across all four of Thaco's main brands: Kia passenger cars, Mazda, trucks, and buses. Thaco Kia saw a 22% year-on-year increase, maintaining its second-highest position in passenger car sales (excluding trucks and pickup trucks).
Kia's flagship models remain the K3, New Sorento, Morning, Carens, Rio, etc. Overall, in the first five months of the year, the South Korean car brand's position remained unchanged with total sales exceeding 4,000 units, a 37% increase compared to the same period last year.
Even more impressive is the growth of the Mazda brand at Thaco, with sales of 659 units last month, a 163% increase compared to the same period last year, and maintaining its 4th position in VAMA. The three main Mazda models with high sales figures of around 200 units/month are the CX-5, Mazda3, and BT-50. In total, over the past five months, Mazda has sold nearly 3,000 units, a threefold increase compared to the same period last year, and at this rate, in just about two months, Mazda will surpass its sales figure for the entire year (4,089 units)!
Coming in second in sales last month was Toyota with 2,802 units, a slight increase of 1% compared to the same period last year. This stability wasn't due to consistent sales of individual models, but rather to some fluctuations. Specifically, to compensate for the sharp decline in sales of the C-segment Corolla Altis, sales of the 2014 Vios surged with over 700 units, becoming Toyota's best-selling model in the Vietnamese market that month. Other flagship models such as the Fortuner and Innova also saw high sales figures of around 600 units each. See more...

In the first five months, nearly 20,000 cars were imported into Vietnam.
In the first five months of 2014, the number of completely assembled cars imported into Vietnam increased by nearly 50% compared to the same period, reaching almost 20,000 units of all types.
According to preliminary statistics just released by the General Department of Customs, in May alone, 4,687 complete automobiles of all types were imported into Vietnam, with a total value of 106 million USD, representing an increase of 37% in volume and 60% in value compared to the same period in 2013.
In the first five months of this year, a total of 19,794 complete automobiles were imported into Vietnam, with a total value of 412 million USD, an increase of 47% in volume and 57% in value compared to the same period last year.
Notably, the number of passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer reached 9,082 units, generating $110 million in revenue; representing a 28% increase in volume and a 77% increase in value compared to the same period last year. This volume growth is attributed to strong sales of Hyundai models and pickup trucks from Thailand. Meanwhile, the increase in value is attributed to the strong growth of the luxury car segment, primarily driven by German brands in the three-way race between Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, along with the entry of the new Lexus.
