(Baonghean.vn) - The 35th anniversary of the founding of the Ethnic Minority High School took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere imbued with national identity.

On the morning of December 7, the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities organized an exchange and meeting to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the school's founding (1984-2019).

On October 15, 1984, Nghe Tinh Ethnic High School, now Nghe An Province Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, opened its first course.

35 years have passed, a journey of continuous, persistent, resilient, and tireless efforts by generations of cadres, teachers, staff, parents, and students of the school.

Through that, more than 5,000 students who are children of ethnic minorities: Thai, Tho, Mong, Kho Mu, O Du, Dan Lai, Thanh, Nung in the mountainous districts of Western Nghe An have been trained.

The school is also a source of high-quality cadres for the mountainous districts of the province, including 2,073 students passing the entrance exams to universities and colleges, 1,157 students passing the university preparatory exam, 398 students selected for recruitment, and nearly 1,500 students working.

Currently, the quality of moral education, cultural education, and comprehensive training of the school is continuously improved. The average graduation rate is 100%, and the rate of students passing the entrance exams to universities, colleges, and vocational high schools is over 80%.

In the 2018-2019 school year, the school had 1 student with high scores honored and rewarded by the Provincial People's Committee, 8 students were commended and awarded by the Provincial Ethnic Committee, and 17 students with high scores were rewarded by the school.

The exchange and meeting to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Ethnic Minority High School is an opportunity for generations of teachers and students to meet, exchange, continue to promote traditions, build a high-quality key school of the province, worthy of the trust and entrustment of the ethnic minorities in the Western Nghe An region.

Previously, on the afternoon of December 6, Party Central Committee members: Do Van Chien - Minister, Chairman of the Government's Ethnic Committee; Hau A Lenh - Vice President, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front visited and presented gifts to teachers and students of Nghe An Province's Ethnic Boarding High School.

At the same time, the Certificate of Merit of the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee was awarded to the collective of Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School for outstanding achievements in training and educating ethnic minority students in mountainous areas.
