Many EVN bosses earn over 600 million VND a year

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) spent about 8.63 billion VND on salaries for management officials in 2015.

According to EVN’s report, the group’s management staff consists of 13 people, with an income of around 600 million VND in 2015. Most of these leaders have doctoral and master’s degrees. In particular, many leaders have master’s degrees related to the electricity sector.

Mr. Mai Quoc Hoi - member of the board of members (BOM) has a salary of over 632 million VND plus welfare bonuses of 866 million VND per year.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade - Hoang Quoc Vuong has an income of 405 million VND. In 2015, Mr. Vuong held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVN until January 26, then was appointed as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, holding a management role in the fields of electricity, chemicals, and directing the general coordination of local industry and trade, and collective economy.

With a PhD in economics and production management and many years of experience in the electricity sector, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVN from March 25, 2015. His income reached 618 million VND.

Two other members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Pham Manh Thang and Dao Hieu, received 518 and 647 million VND respectively.

Deputy Director Nguyen Tai Anh's annual income is 660 million VND. Other key leaders such as: General Director Dang Hoang An, Deputy General Directors Dinh Quang Tri, Nguyen Tan Loc, Nguyen Cuong Lam all have incomes of about 600 million VND.

At the lower level is the Controller with a salary of about 400 million VND lower.

Compared to the salaries and bonuses of some other corporations and state-owned enterprises such as SCIC, Sabeco, Vietcombank, etc., EVN leaders' salaries are lower. In total, EVN spent about 8.63 billion VND on salaries for management staff in 2015.

In 2015, EVN's average electricity price increased to 1,629 VND per kWh. As a result, the revenue from electricity sales increased by 1,800 billion VND, bringing the total revenue of the whole group to 233,710 billion VND, an increase of 18.5% compared to the previous year. The charter capital of the parent company reached 160,000 billion VND, double that of 2010. However, the profit was not disclosed by EVN.

By the end of 2015, the Government had guaranteed nearly 10 billion USD of EVN's debt.
