Many bomb-making materials at the scene of the explosion in Ha Dong
Examining the scene of the explosion in Ha Dong, police and soldiers collected many pieces of metal made of cast iron and steel, identified as materials used to make bombs.
On the morning of March 20, Hanoi City Police reported the initial investigation results of the explosion that caused particularly serious consequences in front of house number 15 - TT19, Van Phu Urban Area, Phu La Ward, Ha Dong District.
According to the investigation documents, Mr. Pham Van Cuong (41 years old, from Nam Truc district, Nam Dinh province), rented house number 15 - TT 19, Van Phu urban area, Ha Dong district since 2013 to practice scrap collection. After collecting all kinds of scrap, Mr. Cuong brought it back to his rented place to store.

Every day, the owner of the facility brings scrap metal to the sidewalk in front of the rented house to sort it, use a blowtorch to cut it, and break it up to sell as scrap metal.
On the morning of March 19, Mr. Cuong asked a young neighbor to help him roll a rusty iron cylinder, about 40-45 cm in diameter, about 80 cm long, and weighing about 100 kg, from his rented house to the sidewalk in front of the door.
During the process of cutting the metal block with a blowtorch, the heat caused an explosion that caused extremely serious consequences, killing 4 people, injuring 10, severely damaging 36 apartments, and breaking all the glass in 95 apartments behind the explosion scene, cracking the walls, and blowing open the doors; many motorbikes parked on the street and passing by were damaged.

Through the investigation of the scene, the functional forces of Hanoi Police and the Capital Command collected many pieces of metal made of cast iron and steel, which were identified as materials used to make bombs.
According to the preliminary examination results of the Criminal Techniques Department of the Ministry of Public Security, the explosives that caused the explosion are also the type commonly used to make bombs and mines. Hanoi police are working with the Capital Command, Fire Police and other relevant agencies to investigate and clarify the incident.
At around 3:10 p.m. on March 19, a large explosion occurred in Van Phu urban area, killing four people and injuring many others. Six motorbikes were burned; one car was damaged; apartments from 8 to 27 TT9; and from 75 to 95 TT20 were cracked and damaged. The identities of the four deceased were identified as: Pham Van Cuong (41 years old, from Nam Dinh); Bui Chi Quan (53 years old, from Chuong My, Hanoi) and the mother and daughter Dao Thi Toan (31 years old, from Thanh Oai, Hanoi) and Dao Tu Quynh (7 years old). |
