During the October 2012 storms, seven villages in Chau Hoi commune (Quy Chau district) were isolated due to rising stream levels, significantly impacting the lives of the villagers. Xon village faced the most difficulties, being located about 15km from the commune center, with complex terrain. Residents had to cross a temporary bridge over the Tan stream to reach the commune center. The recent floods swept away this bridge, making travel extremely difficult for the villagers. Many students had to wade or swim across the stream to get to school, posing a great danger.

The bridge of friendship.

To facilitate convenient travel for the people and students of Xớn village, the Executive Committee of the Quỳ Châu District Youth Union directed the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Châu Hội commune to mobilize dozens of man-days to repair the road and build a new overpass bridge over Khe Tằn. The bridge is nearly 10 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and cost tens of millions of dong, all contributed voluntarily by the youth union members of Châu Hội commune.

Mr. Ha Van Dung, Secretary of the Party branch of Xon village, shared: "Thank you to the Party, the State, and all departments and agencies for their long-standing support to the poor people in this disadvantaged area with many programs closely related to the lives of the people of Xon village, such as free medical examinations and treatment, building houses of compassion, providing kerosene for lighting, and donating books and school supplies to poor students... Now, thanks to the youth of our commune, the people have a new bridge for convenient travel, contributing to improving their lives, especially allowing students to go to school with peace of mind. Although it is only a temporary bridge, it is a bridge of compassion, connecting the youth of our commune with the people."
