Group of 'thieves' caught with 2 motorbikes and nearly 100 million VND

(Baonghean.vn) - Three people who stole property from people's homes during and before Tet were caught by the Quynh Luu District Police along with 2 motorbikes and 97 million VND.

On February 10, Quynh Luu District Police said that the unit had just successfully broken up Project 120T, fighting against property theft crimes in the area, arresting 3 subjects in the gang.

Accordingly, before the Lunar New Year, Quynh Luu District Police continuously received reports from people about property theft. Many houses were broken into and valuable assets such as phones, motorbikes, cash were stolen... This situation caused public confusion and anxiety, affecting local security and order, especially as Tet approached. With the determination to quickly stabilize the security and order situation, ensuring people enjoy Tet and welcome Spring safely, the District Police established Project VA120T to combat property theft crimes.

After many days of active investigation, the Task Force successfully eliminated a gang of property thieves, arresting three suspects: Le Thi Hao (born in 1981) residing in Hong Long hamlet, Quynh Hong commune, Dau Van Long (born in 1996) residing in hamlet 4, Quynh Tan commune and Van Tien Dung (born in 2000) residing in hamlet 8, Quynh Thach commune, Quynh Luu district. The police seized two motorbikes and 97 million VND as evidence of the thefts.

Through investigation, the Investigation Agency clarified: on January 23 (ie 28th of Tet), Le Thi Hao broke into the house of Dang Dinh H. in Quynh Hong commune and stole a phone and some property worth more than 21 million VND. Dau Van Long broke into the house of Hoang Van Th. in Quynh Luong commune and stole the victim's motorbike parked in the yard. Van Tien Dung also broke into a house and stole more than 90 million VND.

Dau Van Long had a previous conviction for theft. In 2015, he was sentenced to 9 months in prison for theft. After being released from prison, Long moved to Hanoi. There, Long used his old tricks and was arrested by Hanoi police. In May 2017, the Thanh Xuan District People's Court, Hanoi, sentenced him to 12 months in prison for the same crime. After being released from prison for the second time, Long became even more stubborn, often hanging out with gamblers in the area, gathering to party and debauch.

Currently, Quynh Luu District Police have completed the procedures, initiated the case, and prosecuted 3 subjects Dau Van Long, Van Tien Dung and Le Thi Hao for property theft.
