Demand for electronic repair skyrockets due to humidity
In recent weeks, the weather in Nghe An has started to be humid, condensing water vapor, damaging many types of electronic devices. Orders for repair and maintenance services for electronic and refrigeration equipment have increased.
Repair orders are higher than usual
Just entering March 2025, Ms. Nguyen Quynh Hoa in Hung Dong ward, Vinh city had to call for a home induction cooker repair service because the cooker had an electrical short circuit. According to the repairman, the humid weather caused water vapor to accumulate in the electric socket of the induction cooker, causing the device's starting chip to explode. To solve the problem, the cooker's power source must be replaced.

“Because the stove is a generation older than 10 years ago, I had to order a replacement. After a week of waiting for the device, it was finally repaired, costing 1.7 million VND,” said Ms. Hoa.
Ms. Le Thu Ha in Quan Bau ward said that the dampness has only started a few days ago.due to inattentionand without a dehumidifier, a lot of water vapor condenses on the surface of the TV's LED screen. Therefore, the screen is distorted, jerky and has color bands along the screen. After a few days, the TV screen completely loses signal.
After checking and receiving the order, the repairman said that Ms. Ha's TV screen was damaged due to water seeping into the electronic circuit. Ms. Ha's TV is quite expensive, so the cost to replace the screen is more than 4 million VND.
Mr. Tran Van Tai, owner of an electronics and refrigeration repair shop in Ha Huy Tap ward, said that every year when the weather starts to change from cold to hot, which is also the wet season, his service shop has to operate at full capacity. Having opened an electronics and refrigeration repair shop for more than 10 years, Mr. Tai's shop now has nearly 10 skilled workers working together in a team. They repair at home, provide consultation, and ship products.

Mr. Tran Van Tai said: “Customers are usually acquaintances. When electronic or refrigeration devices have problems, they call to report the damage, and we will come directly to check. If it is a minor problem, we will fix it right at home. If it is complicated, we will take it to the store for repair.”
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, a repairman with Mr. Tran Van Tai's group, said that during the wet season every year, the average team of repairmen receives 8-10 service calls per day. There are usually more on holidays. Due to the influence of moisture, electronic and refrigeration equipment is easily damaged, especially TV, refrigerator, washing machine, induction cooker,... "In general, electrical devices when affected by steam or water can easily short-circuit, burn, or be damaged if you do not know how to manage and use them," said Mr. Trung.

Due to the high volume of orders, electronics and refrigeration repairmen are working at full capacity. The average price for repair services ranges from 50,000 to 150,000 VND, not including the cost of replacement equipment. During peak hours, in addition to their monthly salary, each worker receives a bonus of 2-5 million VND, depending on their skills and the number of orders.

Need to maintain and use electrical equipment properly
According to those who provide repair and maintenance services for electronic and refrigeration equipment, to increase the efficiency and lifespan of the equipment, users need to know how to operate, preserve and maintain it.
Especially in the humid season, when the humidity is too high, water will condense on the floor and walls. Therefore, avoid placing electrical equipment and electrical outlets close to the wall or under the floor to limit water vapor from entering the internal components. The device should be placed in a high, airy place with a distance of 10-15cm from the wall and about 80cm from the floor to reduce the risk of damage.

In addition, if you have the financial means, you can buy a dehumidifier. Electronic devices such as cameras, laptops, and even cell phones should be protected with a moisture-proof cabinet when not in use.
For induction cookers, in addition to ensuring a separate power outlet with a separate power switch, it is also necessary to install the outlet in a location far from water sources, away from moisture and mold, and install additional nets to prevent insects from entering the electrical circuits.
