Car rental demand skyrockets during the holidays

From Dong Nai to his hometown in Dien Nguyen commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province for the holidays, the first thing Mr. Ngo Tri Tien did was go to car rental locations to choose a suitable vehicle to take his family out during the holidays. However, at this time, finding a suitable car is quite difficult.

Mr. Tien shared: "When I arrived at the car rental locations, most of the cars had already been delivered to previous renters, the few remaining in the garage were mainly high-end models with higher costs. In the end, I had to rent a 7-seater car even though my family had few people. If I didn't rent one, I was afraid there would be no more cars to choose from because there were so many people in need..."

Mr. Tien's case is not uncommon, especially during the holidays. This year, the long holiday season, combined with the unusual sunny and rainy weather, and the skyrocketing demand for cars have caused this car rental service to "sell out".

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Trung, owner of a facilitycar rentalin Vinh City said: "My family has 20 cars of all kinds, of which more than 50% were contacted by customers to reserve a week ago. The rest were basically rented out on April 29. This year, most people rented for the entire 5-day holiday, few cases rented by day like previous years."

According to the survey, the current car rental price has fluctuated, increasing from 100,000 - 300,000 VND/day, ranging from 700,000 VND - 1.5 million VND/day, depending on the car model and number of seats. If the customer rents for a long time, the cost will be cheaper.

In particular, during this year's holiday, the most popular rental cars are mainly basic 5-seat cars with low prices. The most popular are still popular cars such as: Grand i10, KIA Morning, Toyota Vios, KIA K3/Cerato, VinFast Fadil, Mazda3... Higher-end cars are more selective.

Mr. Le Van Tung, a car renter, said: "This year, business is more difficult than previous years, so I only rent cars that fit my budget. The main purpose is still to protect me from the sun and rain because the weather during this year's holiday in Nghe An is very unusual. If I rent a high-end car, the cost will increase, not to mention if any risks occur during the rental process, I will have to bear a heavier responsibility...".

Currently, the mandatory conditions for those renting a car are to have a driver's license, citizen identification card and valuable collateral. In Vinh City, people renting a car often leave their documents and motorbike as collateral. If they do not have a motorbike, they will have to deposit about 10 - 20 million VND. Customers who have completed the car rental procedure must commit to returning the car in its original condition.
