Car parts that make new drivers sweat
New drivers may fumble for a long time without knowing how to open the gas tank cap, rear window wiper or anti-glare mirror lever.
Basic functions on a car are things that are obvious to those who have used it for a long time and are not difficult, but for new drivers, they can be tricky questions. Below are some parts that many new drivers often ask when getting in the car.
1. Where to open the fuel tank cover, hood, trunk?
Most cars today, on the driver's left knee, either high or low, will have levers to open the fuel tank cover, hood and trunk. Depending on the car, there may or may not be a trunk release button, as it can be opened electronically at the back.
However, some cars do not have a button to open the fuel tank cover. With these cars, the driver does not need to try to find it elsewhere in the car because "there is no way to find it". Get out of the car, press directly on the fuel tank cover, it will pop up by itself.
When opening the fuel tank cap, you need to pay attention to the rule, open it slowly and close it quickly. Open it slowly to let the air escape gradually, avoid pressure causing the cap to pop or cause an explosion. When closing, you need to turn it quickly to avoid air from entering and taking up space in the fuel tank.
2. How to wipe the rear window
The front wiper is simple, it is the lever on the right side of the steering wheel, move up or down in increments, but the rear wiper is a problem for new drivers. Also on the lever, the head can rotate, turn and observe in the rearview mirror to see the level of operation of the rear wiper.
3. Anti-glare mirror
With the car's interior rearview mirror not having an automatic anti-glare function, there are drivers who have been using the car for a whole year and still don't know how to stop the glare. Just flip the small lever under the mirror, the glare from the car behind will be significantly reduced. When you flip the lever, the mirror actually rearranges the mirrors inside to reduce the glare.
4. R hook type manual gear lever
If the driver simply moves the lever to the left and then pushes it up, the gear lever will go into 1st gear instead of R as shown in the diagram. To go into reverse, do the same as going into 1st gear but grab the small circle below the gear lever and pull it up. When returning to neutral (N), move it normally as when returning from 1 to N.
5. Child latch
Some new drivers think that to lock the child lock for the rear door, you have to adjust it somehow on the dashboard in front of the driver. In fact, this function is completely mechanical. Open the rear door, look for the child lock symbol on the door frame, then just slide or turn depending on the car, the child lock function will be activated.
