(Baonghean.vn) - The economic recession, the Zika virus outbreak and now a political scandal have all negatively affected the Olympic Games in Brazil. However, people still believe that the Olympics will go on as usual despite these negative impacts.

This year Brazil will welcome visitors from all over the world to watch the 2016 Summer Olympics. However, with just 3 months to go, Brazil is facing many new challenges.

First came the Zika virus outbreak that caused birth defects, then the economic recession that left thousands unemployed and sent inflation soaring, and finally a political crisis that involved some of Brazil's most powerful figures.

Dilma Rousseff faces impeachment.

At this time, when Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff is being asked to resign by the people, many people have questioned whether the Olympics will still be held.

The Games will not be affected by the crisis, according to organizers at the International Olympic Committee (IOC). “Everything is going well,” an IOC representative said after a visit to Rio de Janeiro. The stadiums are nearly complete, but tickets have only been sold for 55%.

The president faces multiple charges.

One of the top concerns now is who will be the next President next August, when the Olympic torch stops in Rio.

Brazil's lower house of Congress recently voted to impeach Rousseff by more than two-thirds. Rousseff was accused of hiding budget deficits before her 2014 re-election.

If the Senate also approves this, Ms. Rousseff will have to stop all activities within 180 days to respond to the allegations against her. She will be replaced by Vice President Michel Temer, who is also involved in corruption issues.

Tourism workers are extremely optimistic.

Despite all the negative effects Brazil is facing, it is still believed that the Olympics will be a great success.

The Municipal Tourism Minister predicts that the city will welcome more than one million visitors this summer. Residents hope that the event will become a turning point for their country.

But some locals don’t see it that way. For them, the negativity of the situation has cast a shadow over the Games. They see it as an opportunity to hide their shameful lives.

The Sunny Summer Olympics are scheduled to run from August 5 to August 21.
