Ways to soundproof a budget car
Noise is one of the factors that makes car users feel uncomfortable, so what are the ways to soundproof a budget car?
Causes of noise in cars
Car noise can be caused by the sound emitted from the engine. Usually, the noise from diesel engines is significantly louder than that from gasoline engines. However, the average speed of cars in Vietnam is not too high and cars often operate at low rpm, so the noise from gasoline engines does not have much impact on the people sitting in the car.
Underbody/tire noise is common in popular cars or sports cars that use large rims, thin tires and stiff suspension.
Wind noise is a major problem when driving at high speeds and is more common in SUVs or vehicles with poor aerodynamic design.

In addition, noise also comes from the interior details of the car. After a period of use, some interior details on popular cars will deteriorate and cause noises that lead to discomfort and annoyance for the people sitting in the car.
Noise also comes from the outside environment. When driving in the city, we will have to face car horns, engine noise and countless other daily noises.
Nowadays, luxury cars often focus on reinforcing parts to limit noise as much as possible. However, with ordinary cars, car owners often have to find ways to reinforce and handle noise when the car is moving.
Ways to soundproof a budget car
Reinforce the car door
Remove the inner panel and door parts until only the metal frame remains. Clean off any dirt or grease, and tape the connecting bars to reduce noise caused by impact or vibration during movement. Cover the inner surface of the metal with a special paint and a thick layer of specialized foam to dampen sound resonance.
Repair partition
Some popular car models have a partition with the engine compartment that is not tightly sealed, causing more noise from the engine compartment to be transmitted into the cabin. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the entire dashboard, control panel and reinforce the entire partition. In addition, the contacts between the wiring system and the partition must have rubber gaskets to reduce impact and noise.
Change tire
Some types of tires always make noise, and on bumpy roads, different types of tire tread will cause different noise levels. In addition, the misalignment of the wheel angles also leads to changes in the friction surface of the tire with the road surface, leading to the tire causing more noise. Over-inflated or under-inflated tires also greatly affect the noise caused by the tire during operation.
Handling noise from the transmission system
Joint positions that frequently experience vibration such as the engine mount, the contact part between the suspension system and the vehicle body need rubber to reduce vibration and thereby minimize noise.
Reinforcement of the body
The car body can be soundproofed with plastic materials on the inside of the body. Adding soundproofing materials is a good solution but it will increase the weight of the car and lead to increased fuel consumption. Therefore, manufacturers of popular cars usually only use soundproofing materials in some key points instead of the whole car.
