Nghe An players in Quang Nam
(Baonghean.vn) - In the Quang Nam squad this season, there are quite a few faces from Nghe An. It is likely that in the reception of SLNA in round 8 of V.League 2020, players from Nghe An will be sent onto the field by the new "captain" Dao Quang Hung to face their hometown team.
Goalkeeper Pham Van Cuong
Although born in Nghe An, Pham Van Cuong is a product of Military Zone 4. Before playing for Quang Nam (2014), the goalkeeper born in 1990 played for Military Zone 4 (2008 - 2009), Navibank Saigon (2010 - 2012) and Binh Dinh (2013). Pham Van Cuong's most impressive achievement up to this point was winning the V.League 2017 with Quang Nam, a tournament in which the goalkeeper from Nghe An played very well.

According to experts, Pham Van Cuong is one of the goalkeepers with the most stable performance in V.League in recent seasons. The proof is that Pham Van Cuong has been called up to the Vietnam National Team many times by Coach Park Hang-seo, preparing for major tournaments such as AFF Cup 2018 and World Cup 2022 qualifiers. A worthy reward for the talent and tireless efforts of the 30-year-old goalkeeper.
Fullback Nguyen Anh Hung
Having played for SLNA youth teams for many years, however, the player born in 1992 did not have the honor of wearing the Nghe An team's shirt to compete in prestigious arenas such as V.League and National Cup. After playing for Hung Vuong An Giang (2013 - 2014) and Hai Phong (2015 - 2018), Nguyen Anh Hung decided to join Quang Nam with a 2-year contract.

During the past time, at Tam Ky stadium, the defender from Nghe An still affirmed his inherent class. Thanks to Dinh Thanh Trung's excellence in the right wing position, the Tam Ky home team won the championship at V.League 2017 and the National Super Cup 2017. With his impressive performances in the Quang Nam shirt that season, Dinh Thanh Trung overcame other strong candidates to convincingly win the Vietnam Golden Ball 2017.
Similar to Nguyen Cong Phuong, Phan Dinh Thang was also rejected by SLNA because he did not meet the requirements. After a period of training at the T&T-VSH Youth Football Training Center (Cua Lo town), in 2009, Phan Dinh Thang joined Viettel's training center, then Hoa Phat Hanoi's training center and Hanoi Football Club. At the end of the 2012 season, Hanoi Club was dissolved, Phan Dinh Thang played for Binh Dinh (First Division) and Viettel (Second Division), both on loan.

At the beginning of the 2015 season, Phan Dinh Thang officially joined Quang Nam, under coach Hoang Van Phuc. At the Quang Nam team, the player born in 1993 was often present in the starting lineup, despite Quang Nam always possessing many "stars" in attack. However, since coach Hoang Van Phuc left, Phan Dinh Thang's familiar position has been on the bench. In V.League 2020 alone, after 7 rounds, the midfielder wearing the number 10 shirt has only played 215 minutes.
