The first batch of 15 female pilots selected to join the Russian Air Force will study at the Krasnodar Higher Air Force Academy.
This is the first time the Russian Air Force has recruited women since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. |
"There are many young girls who want to become military pilots. We have received hundreds of applications from them," said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. |
However, only 15 girls will be recruited in this first batch. After the comprehensive knowledge test, the girls will have to undergo medical, physical and psychological tests to be admitted to the school. |
