Strange storms in history
(Baonghean.vn) - In August and September this year, the world experienced a high number of storms, causing heavy losses of life and property. Below are some of the record-breaking storms in history.
The storm had the most bizarre path.Hurricane Wayne in 1986, with its bizarre, repeatedly clockwise and circling paths, is also considered one of the "drunkest" hurricanes in history, after Hurricane Ginger in 1971.
The storm had the most unusual path.: Hurricane Rita in 1972; its trajectory resembled a tornado, moving from bottom to top.
The storm had the most erratic path.Typhoon Parma in 2008. In fact, Typhoon Parma shocked many in the meteorological field with its bizarre trajectories, not unlike Typhoon Wayne in 1986, with two entries and exits of the South China Sea and three sweeps across the Philippines. Parma's constantly changing trajectory caused it to enter and exit the South China Sea multiple times.

The storm had the longest path on the planet.Typhoon John in 1994. It traveled a distance of 13,280 km, from east to west, and returned to the central Pacific Ocean.
The fastest-moving storm:Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 moved at speeds exceeding 40 km/h. The Super Typhoon Tip of 1979, currently under discussion, is believed to be the fastest-moving storm, at times reaching speeds of 75 km/h.
The storm is moving at the slowest speed. In 2006, Hurricane Cimaron barely moved or traveled at speeds below 3 km/h.
The storm had the strongest gusts of wind:The super typhoon Olivia in 1996 had wind gusts of up to 408 km/h. The second strongest typhoon was Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, with wind gusts of 380 km/h. The third strongest typhoon was Super Typhoon Paka in 1997, with wind gusts of 378 km/h.

The storm has the highest maximum wind speed. The 2015 Super Typhoon Patricia, with wind speeds reaching 345 km/h, was on par with the 1961 Super Typhoon Nancy, also at 345 km/h. The storm with the second highest maximum wind speed was the 1961 Super Typhoon Violet, with speeds reaching 335 km/h. The storm with the third highest maximum wind speed was the 1958 Super Typhoon Ida, with speeds reaching 325 km/h. The storm that maintained its intensity (wind speed and pressure) for three consecutive days was the 1978 Super Typhoon Rita.
The storm had the lowest atmospheric pressure on record:Super typhoon Tip in 1979 was both incredibly intense in scale and reached record-breaking low pressure.
The storm that directly caused the fewest deaths:Super typhoon Yasi caused one death.
The storm caused the greatest loss of life:The Bhola super cyclone of 1970 in Bangladesh killed approximately 300,000 to 500,000 people.

Storms cause the most landslides:Super typhoon Ida in 1958 caused over 1900 landslides.
The storm caused the greatest economic damage:Hurricane Katrina in 2005 caused total property damage of $108 billion.
The storm with the heaviest rainfall:Superstorm Nina in 1975. It produced 1692mm of rainfall over 3 days.
Historical record for storm groups:The group of storms that appeared most frequently together in the same sea area belonged to the four storm-bringing brothers: Super Typhoon HaLong, Genevieve, Iselle, and Julio in 2014. Of these, HaLong and Iselle were stronger. All of them, with their super-strong intensity and wind speeds, raging across the Pacific Ocean, this was the first time in history that this group received such a "historic award."
The most perfectly aligned, uniform, and beautiful storm group:Typhoons Phailin, Nari, and Wipha in 2013. All three typhoons aligned in a straight line and had the same swirling motion, and were considered the most spectacular in history.

The storm had the shortest path in history:Hurricane Martha in 1969.
The strongest storms form earliest:Super Typhoon Isa in 1997 formed on April 12th and reached Category 5 strength on April 20th, 1997.
The storm formed over land.Typhoon Amy in 1994 formed right on land near the China-Vietnam border.
The latest storm to form this year:Super typhoon Ophelia of 1957, the storm formed at noon on December 31, 1957.
The storm that produced the most lightning:Hurricane Meranti in 2010 saw an unprecedented number of lightning strikes that are impossible to estimate.

| Typhoon Haiyan was comparable in strength to Hurricane Katrina, which swept through New Orleans, USA, on September 2, 2005, killing approximately 2,000 people and affecting millions more. Total material damage exceeded $100 billion. |
The storm has two possible paths:Typhoon Dot in 1967 had two paths. It's unknown where it originated.
The storm moved from land to sea:Hurricane Olaf in 1997 was a storm that moved inland and out at sea, causing headaches for meteorologists.
The smallest storm:Hurricane Marco in 2008, with winds exceeding 64 km/h, spread across a diameter of 37 km.
The storm had the highest waves:Super typhoon Haiyan, with waves over 15 meters high.
The storm with the longest active lifespan:Hurricane John in 1994. The storm formed on August 11th and dissipated on September 10th, a duration of 31 days.

The storm had the shortest active lifespan:Typhoon Podul in 2013, which lasted only a few hours.
The most terrifying firestorm ever:Hurricane Peshtigo in 1871. The fire swept through a vast forest area of 4,850 km² (twice the size of Ho Chi Minh City). The flames even engulfed several square kilometers of Green Bay, the power of the fire so intense that it tossed houses and vehicles into the air before burning them to ashes.
The storm had the highest dust and sand levels:Hurricane Phoenix in 2011. With winds of 80 km/h, massive clouds of dust and sand swirled across the sky, reaching heights of up to 3,000 meters, and visibility dropped to zero.
The storm appeared with tornadoes before it made landfall:Super typhoon Haiyan in 2013.
