Here are some impressive statistics about the 12-day film event:

*9:A number of movie stars and veteran directors will appear on the Jury, tasked with selecting the work that wins the Palme d'Or - the highest award at the Cannes Film Festival.

The President of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival Jury is Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, the "father" of the classic film "All About My Mother."

Among the remaining "judges" are American actor Will Smith and Chinese beauty Pham Bang Bang.

*167:That’s the number of diamonds embedded in the Palme d’Or emblem, to mark the 70th anniversary of the award. Each diamond weighs 0.695 carats, and looks like sparkling stars on the leaves and trunk of the palm. This year, the emblem is covered with 118 grams of pure gold.

*24:That's how many red-carpet steps the stars will have to climb to get to the Palais des Festivals, where the films competing for the Palme d'Or will be screened.
