(Baonghean.vn) - After the war, many former Youth Volunteers encountered difficulties in stabilizing their lives and developing their economy. However, with their strong will, determination and perseverance, they gradually rose up to "help themselves and their comrades", actively building their organizations and localities.

Bright examples in economic development

In 2005, former Youth Volunteer Tuong Dang Minh (participated in Youth Volunteers in Company 2893, Team 289-P27, term 1971-1973) left his job at the Department of Traffic Construction 1, returned to his hometown in Tam Quang commune (Tuong Duong) to retire under the regime. Back home, his family life encountered many difficulties when his children were all in school age. With the thought "As a former Youth Volunteer, I cannot accept poverty", Mr. Minh sought a way to develop, boldly borrowed from friends and banks to buy a car to deliver materials and run a food and beverage business in the area.

Dare to think, dare to do, diligent, hard-working, reputable and trusted by customers, Mr. Minh was not only able to raise his children to study well but also accumulated capital for production and business. By 2010, former Youth Volunteer Tuong Dang Minh had established a transportation and construction company with 7 cars and 8 workers. All 4 children after finishing secondary and university were brought into the company... With good management, the company has continuously developed with an annual revenue of about 1.5 billion VND, contributing 150-200 million VND to the budget. Workers' income reached approximately 7 million VND.

Like former Youth Volunteer Tuong Dang Minh, the couple of former Youth Volunteer Bui Hoang Ngan (joined the Youth Volunteer in 1972, Unit 333, Cu Chinh Lan General Team) - Hoang Thi Ngan (joined the Youth Volunteer in 1972, Unit 2713N271P37) in Huong Son Commune (Tan Ky) also experienced certain difficulties. But with determination to overcome difficulties, they also succeeded.

In 2004, when the Party and State had a policy of developing farm economy, former Youth Volunteer Bui Hoang Ngan and his wife applied to join the Farm Association of the commune and district. From here, the family was allowed by the district and commune to visit models and experience reality...

A new direction was opened. On over 30 hectares of productive forest land with ponds and lakes, the former Youth Volunteers boldly borrowed capital to build a combined agricultural, forestry and fishery farm, raising wild pigs, buffaloes, cows, goats, chickens, ducks, fish combined with planting raw material forests. Continuously learning techniques and finding outlets for products, the farm of the former Youth Volunteers has brought in a good income of about 650 million VND/year. In 2019-2020, the farm built an additional fish cage farming model with 15 cages with an investment cost of 450 million VND.

“Developing the farm economy, families have the conditions to help children of former Youth Volunteers and former Youth Volunteers facing difficulties by arranging regular and seasonal work on the farm and also helping them with gifts and cash.”

"With human strength, rocks and stones can become rice", the couple of former Youth Volunteers Tran Huy Giang - Le Thi Van, in Hamlet 3, Thanh Duc Commune (Thanh Chuong) are determined to develop the family economy on the land assigned to them. They do everything, raise animals, grow trees effectively, from growing tea, working hard all day from planting acacia, growing grapefruit to raising chickens, ducks, digging ponds to raise fish, raising goats, buffaloes, cows... Plants and animals are cared for by people, so they grow more and more, family life is increasingly developing. From 2005-2006 until now, each year their family earns about 600 million VND from forest land, gardens, ponds and barns.

For many former Youth Volunteers, their happiness is not simply their own personal development but also the joy of helping their teammates and the community - This is also the thought of former Youth Volunteers Tran Thi Quy (born in 1954, participated in the Youth Volunteers from 1972 to 1974 at unit 3094N309P27) in Trung Do ward (Vinh city). In 1990, after quitting her job at the garment cooperative, former Youth Volunteers Tran Thi Quy did not accept poverty and went to find a job that suited her abilities. She decided to open a catering service shop to serve festivals and weddings.

With the precious heart of a professional, the shop quickly became known and trusted by many people, with people ordering food every day. The income of former Youth Volunteer Tran Thi Quy in the years 2000-2010 sometimes reached 100 million VND/month after deducting expenses and taxes. By 2013, the shop continued to expand its business, recruit more staff, invest, and advertise on the Internet, so revenue increased steadily every year. Up to now, the total number of employees of the shop is 30 people, with an average income of 6.5-7 million VND/month per worker... Not stopping there, this former female Youth Volunteer also linked up and invested in establishing a passenger car company to transport passengers from Vinh City to Hanoi.

It is worth mentioning that half of the total number of employees at her store and company are children of former Youth Volunteers in difficult circumstances. With the development of her family's economy, former Youth Volunteer Tran Thi Quy does not keep it for herself but often helps and gives gifts to former Youth Volunteers in difficult circumstances; takes care of the wives and mothers of martyrs, and supports heroic Vietnamese mothers; gives gifts to victims of Agent Orange; cooks porridge to distribute to poor patients; gives books, clothes, and shoes to children in mountainous areas... From 2015-2019 alone, the amount of money that former Youth Volunteer Tran Thi Quy helped and supported her comrades was about 435 million VND.
