Milestones of the special Vietnam-Laos friendship

(Baonghean.vn) - 2017 marks two important events in the history of Vietnam - Laos relations: 55 years since the two countries officially established diplomatic relations and 40 years since the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. These are important milestones in the history of the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

From 1930 - 1939:Under the leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party, the struggles of the Vietnamese and Lao people influenced and impacted each other, contributing to promoting the development of the revolutionary movements in each country.

October 1945:Signing the Laos-Vietnam Mutual Assistance Treaty and the Agreement on the organization of the Laos-Vietnam joint military force.

March 21, 1946:The battle to protect Thakhek (Laos), the largest battle of the Laos - Vietnam coalition since its establishment, is a beautiful symbol of solidarity and attachment between the two countries.

From 1945 - 1948:The Vietnam - Laos fighting alliance was gradually formed and developed, contributing to promoting closer solidarity and fighting relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

October 30, 1949:The Vietnamese military forces sent to perform international missions in Laos were organized into a separate system, under the name of "Volunteer Army".

Vietnamese volunteer soldiers held a farewell party for the Lao ethnic people before returning home in 1961.

March 1951: Establish the people's alliance of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia, together to drive out colonial and imperialist invaders, and gain true independence for the people of Indochina.

July 23, 1962With the help of the Vietnamese Volunteer Army, the US imperialists were forced to sign the Geneva Agreement recognizing the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Laos.

September 5, 1962:Official establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations.

July 18, 1977:Signing the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
