Mai Bang Temple still retains its ancient architecture and a spacious space located in the middle of residential area block 4. The temple was built during the Later Le Dynasty, and is a place to worship the gods: Chieu Trung Vuong Le Khoi (who had great merit under the Le Dynasty, helping Le Loi defeat the Ming invaders); Che Thang Phu Nhan Nguyen Thi Bich Chau (a beautiful and talented noble concubine, revered by the people as the goddess of the sea); Thuy Tinh Phu Nhan (ruling over the river area) and worshiping 6 founding gods. The temple is a place that strongly reflects the beliefs of coastal residents, worshiping the gods who govern the river and sea areas, protecting fishermen from the storms of the sea. Every time they go out to sea, people of Nghi Tan ward often come to the temple to pray for safety. Photo: Duc Anh |
