Things to know about the 2020 AFC U23 Championship draw
After determining the 16 teams participating in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, along with the seeding, what fans are interested in now is when the group draw will take place and who the U23 Vietnam team will face.
The results of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship will be the basis for determining the teams representing the continent to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In addition to host Japan, Asia will have 3 more slots to participate in this playground. Since Japan U23 is also participating in the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, if they make it into the Top 3 teams, the fourth team will also qualify for the Olympics.
The 2020 AFC U23 Championship will take place from January 8 to January 26, 2020. Currently, the host country Thailand has not announced the time and location of the draw for the 2020 AFC U23 Championship. However, according to tradition, this event will take place around the fall of this year, which is about 3-4 months before the final round.

The draw for the 2018 AFC U23 Championship took place on October 24, 2017 at the Trader Furu Hotel in Changzhou (China). Previously, the draw for the 2016 AFC U23 Championship took place on September 12, 2015 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha (Qatar). As for the first tournament in 2014 (for the U22 age group), the draw took place on August 24, 2013 in Muscat (Oman).
