Important contributions of comrade Le Huy Diep in the Nghe Tinh Soviet and revolutionary movements in Nghe An
With his achievements in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement 1930-1931, comrade Le Huy Diep was elected to the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, holding many important positions.
Comrade Le Huy Diep (aka Phong), was born on April 20, 1909 in Kim Khe Thuong village, Kim Nguyen commune (now Nghi Long commune), Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. His father was Bachelor Thi Giang scholar Le Huy Than, his mother was Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sam, the only daughter of Bachelor Nguyen Duc Cau of the Nguyen Duc (Nghi Trung) family. His paternal uncle was painter Le Huy Mien, the first painting teacher of Nguyen Tat Thanh when he studied at the National School in Hue.

Born and raised in a Confucian family with a tradition of patriotism and education, Le Huy Diep was sent by his family to study Chinese at the French-Vietnamese school in Nghi Loc district as a child. After graduating, Le Huy Diep went to study at the National School in Hue.
At the end of 1927, introduced by teacher Vo Liem Son [1], Le Huy Diep joined the Tan Viet Party organization and became one of the active activists at Quoc Hoc Hue School. He participated in the school's Red Student Association and led students of Quoc Hoc Hue School to participate in the struggle movements.
In 1928, Le Huy Diep returned to his hometown to continue his activities. Introduced by comrade Tran Phu, Le Huy Diep met comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and was introduced to the activities in the Party Cell of comrades Nguyen Thi Xan, Nguyen Thi Thiu, and Nguyen Thi Nha.
In her memoirs, comrade Nguyen Thi Thiu recorded:
“One day, at dawn, I carried a basket to the field, pretending to go to pick vegetables to contact Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai from the province in Nghi Loc. As soon as I reached the alley, I suddenly saw three or four strangers walking straight into my gate. Before I could say hello, the strangers stopped, smiled, and spoke first:
We are dropouts who were expelled from school. Now that we have nothing to do at home, we came here to ask you for help.
Unexpectedly, that chance encounter that morning brought me a loyal and devoted comrade, a trusted friend and later a faithful husband, who accompanied me throughout my entire life..." [2].
In mid-1929, the Indochinese Communist Party in Central Vietnam was established, Le Huy Diep, Nguyen Thi Xan, Nguyen Thi Thiu and many comrades who were active in the Tan Viet Party switched to join.
On the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7, 1917 - November 7, 1929), the Central Region Party Committee launched a struggle movement, and comrade Le Huy Diep was assigned to be in charge of the printing department.
After the Communist Party of Vietnam was born, implementing the policy of the Party and the Central Region Party Committee, comrade Nguyen Thuc Man - Secretary of the Indochina Communist Party Cell of Nghi Loc district convened a meeting at Nguyen Thuc Tu's Temple to deploy the task. Comrades Le Huy Diep, Nguyen Thi Thiu, Nguyen Thi Xan, Nguyen Thi Nha, Nguyen Thi Phuc... became the first generation of Party members [3].

After leaving prison, he continued his activities.
In 1931, the enemy launched a white terror campaign. They searched the Party's printing facilities located at comrade Le Huy Diep's house. To avoid losses to the revolution, comrade Le Huy Diep was assigned by the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to work at the Central Region Party Committee's printing facility, along with comrade Nguyen Thi Phuc, who was in charge of the Central Region Party Committee's printing facility located in Yen Luu village (now Hung Hoa commune, Vinh city).

Le Huy Diep shared his experiences in confronting the enemy when forced to confess, both to preserve his reputation and to protect the Party, without the enemy having any reason to accuse him. Le Huy Diep's spirit of solidarity, love, and helping his fellow students in Vinh prison was an example that encouraged political prisoners to maintain their faith and continue to fight against all harsh regimes of French colonialism towards political prisoners.
In 1932, on the occasion of King Bao Dai's return to power, to win the hearts of the people, the Southern feudal dynasty asked the French colonialists for special favors, releasing a number of political prisoners, including comrade Le Huy Diep.

Le Huy Diep sought to restore the Party bases that had been eliminated after the white terror. From here, the revolutionary movement of Kim Nguyen commune was restored and developed more strongly. In that situation, using the excuse that Le Huy Diep refused to appear, the local leaders and village chief of Kim Khe reported to the district chief, accusing Le Huy Diep of propagating communism, inciting local youths to cause disorder, and he was arrested for the third time.
