(Baonghean)The material and spiritual lives of the Dan Lai people in the upstream area of the Giang River in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district (Nghe An province) are improving thanks to the attention of the Party and the State. However, children born in this upstream area still face many disadvantages and hardships.
Ancient customs such as sleeping sitting up (to ward off enemies and wild animals) or immersing newborns in water (to test their resilience) have become a thing of the past. The younger generation of the Dan Lai people has gone to school and confidently entered life. However, due to the limited education level of the people, their unfamiliarity with new ways of doing business, and the failure to properly implement family planning, children born in the upstream area of the Giang River still suffer many disadvantages and hardships.
Here are some images we captured during a business trip up the Giang River:

From a very young age, Dan Lai children accompany their mothers to work.
And together we "frolic" by the river.
Sometimes he even followed his father to work as a lumberjack.
This boy has grown into a man, but his eyes and smile still retain their innocent charm.
The Dan Lai children reacted upon seeing the stranger.
