Children of the lake region

(Baonghean) - The Ban Ve Hydropower Plant (Tuong Duong) has come into operation. Despite many efforts from the government and the people, the lives of the people around the reservoir are still full of difficulties, especially the children.

In the Xop Lam community, out of dozens of children of school age, only three attend school (one in kindergarten, one in 3rd grade, and one in 5th grade). From a young age, these children have had to help their families with heavy household chores.

Lo Van Phong, one of the three children in the village who attend school, is very eager to learn. Even though he has to get to school by boat with his neighbor, he refuses to miss a single class.

The children here even drive motorboats on the lake, which is extremely dangerous. Often, even the parents themselves are unaware of the potential danger this poses to their children's lives, thinking it's normal here.
