Behaviors in children that may be signs of developmental disorders
You can recognize autism from signs such as fear of interacting with strangers and not looking people in the eye when talking.
Boys are twice as likely to have a developmental disorder as girls. The factors that lead to this condition vary and can include premature birth, low birth weight, complications during birth or illness during pregnancy. Any disorder has the potential to make a child’s future life difficult, so early detection is important for treatment.
Bright Sideprovides some signs of the most common developmental disorders.
Autism
Symptoms of autism can be seen as early as age 2. By age 5, symptoms are usually more noticeable and this is also the most common age for children to be diagnosed with autism. Statistically, girls are four times less likely to have autism than boys.
Contrary to popular belief, autism does not mean that you are incapable of developing skills and cannot do what you like. The main problem for people with autism is difficulty communicating, especially with people they do not know. Symptoms of autism can gradually decrease with proper treatment.

You can recognize this disorder by your child's strange behavior, for example:
- Children are afraid of communicating with strangers and during conversations, they cannot maintain eye contact. They cannot empathize, can laugh when someone is crying or vice versa.
- Children do mindless things like tapping on a surface for a long time, rocking back and forth, or placing toys in rows based on rules they create themselves. They do not get bored and can continue doing these things for hours, with blank eyes.
- Children do not understand social context, behave the same way at home, at school, at the shopping mall or anywhere else. They communicate with everyone the same, can be impolite to older people.
- Children are almost unable to understand and use body language. At severe levels of autism, they do not show any facial expressions.
- Children are frightened by any change. If you move furniture in the house, they may panic. Familiar things like breakfast or the route to school can also cause a similar reaction if changed.
- Children have well-developed sensory organs. They like to touch things and can sense even fleeting smells. They often stare at objects, structures made of wood, stone and many other materials. They have a very high pain threshold and can pinch their own skin to see what happens.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
This disorder is only found in children over the age of 4 and only when the signs are observed from day to day. If you think your child has some symptoms, but they occur very rarely, it means that your child is completely normal.
According to statistics, ADHD is more commonly diagnosed in twins and premature babies. In addition, boys are three times more likely to develop the disorder than girls.
For adults with ADHD, the impact on life is not as great. These people often make hasty decisions, worry a lot, and can be annoying to others. They also find it difficult to do boring tasks.

Some behaviors in children that may be signs of ADHD:
- Children cannot sit still, constantly fidgeting, looking around and acting as if there is a motor inside their body. Their actions do not really have a purpose. They grab whatever they can, then throw it away and grab something else.
- Children cannot concentrate on something boring for a long time, such as cleaning or doing homework. But they can play computer games and other things for hours.
- Children are often distracted by things outside. For example, when they are busy with something, they see something outside the window and stop what they are doing.
- Children cannot control their own emotions, may become agitated just because they do not want to stand in a long line, or may argue with relatives for no particular reason. Sometimes, they say rude words and will come back a few minutes later to apologize.
- At school, children interrupt their classmates and even their teachers. During tests, they often do not finish reading the questions due to lack of patience and give random answers.
Dysgraphia (writing disorder)
This disorder prevents children from learning to spell correctly. It occurs quite often and does not really affect adult life. It mainly occurs in children with eye or ear problems, or those with ADHD.
You can help your child overcome dyslexia by exercising to develop fine motor skills and strengthen the muscles in his hands.

Dysgraphia can be diagnosed by observing the following signs:
- When writing, children always confuse similar sounds.
- Youngcan add letters to words, change the position of syllables, or even omit them altogether.
-When children write, words blend together (especially prepositions).
-It is difficult to read what children write. Even when they try their best and write slowly, the letters are still illegible.
-In the most severe cases, children with dysgraphia also have dysgraphia.
Dyslexia
According to statistics, 70-80% of people who have difficulty reading actually have dyslexia. This disorder is usually congenital and can be treated if the child sees a specialist in time. Dyslexia cannot be diagnosed earlier than the age of 10-11.
Dyslexia does not cause much trouble in adult life, other than difficulty reading quickly. Sometimes, some people try to hide the disorder and become quite shy. This behavior is considered normal.
You may diagnose dyslexia if your child has the following symptoms:
- The child reads very poorly, although other skills in math, art, and even writing are fine. The child's IQ is normal or even high, so intelligence and dyslexia are not related.
- Youngrefuses to practice reading and just says that he doesn't want to do it. If parents push too hard, the child may become agitated.
- Youngcan read, even read quickly, but cannot retell what has been read because of not understanding the meaning of the text.
- YoungThey may often have their heads in the clouds, so you have to ask a question twice to get an answer. They are sometimes oblivious to their surroundings and therefore often feel insecure. Children with this disorder try to find themselves in certain art forms such as music, acting, etc.
- Youngoften hold the pen incorrectly, such as holding the pen between the ring finger and middle finger.
