To date, 17 people have been confirmed dead in the fire at the 24-storey Grenfell building on June 14.
Meanwhile, many people are still missing, and a source from the London City Council confirmed that emergency services fear the death toll is likely to be “well over 100”.

On June 16, the first photos from the fire that shocked Britain were revealed, partly describing the catastrophic extent of this event.
The first thing that caught the eye were the burnt-out washing machines and kitchens, as well as clothes and belongings strewn across the rooms. Meanwhile, the intense heat left almost no glass visible from the windows, according to the Evening Standard.

Firefighters continue to search for people missing in the fire, and it is expected to take more time to complete the search as the fire has now almost completely destroyed everything.
In another development, the BBC reported that the first victim of the tragedy was confirmed to be a Syrian refugee named Mohammed Alhajali.

Alhajali, 23, came to the UK in 2014 and studied civil engineering while living in North Kensington, west London. The Syrian Solidarity Campaign said Alhajali risked his life to escape death in the war-torn country but ultimately could not avoid the same fate in the UK./.
