First images of US-led airstrikes in Syria
(Baonghean.vn) - According to witnesses, there were several loud explosions in the east of the Syrian capital Damascus after US President Donald Trump ordered an attack on the country.

The first videos and photos have appeared on social media sites, showing images said to be of attacks by US, British and French troops in Syria.
Reuters also cited witnesses as saying a series of explosions were recorded in Damascus.
Several images have begun to appear on social media, showing Syrian air defense systems responding to incoming attacks.

A district of Damascus that houses a scientific research facility was targeted in US, French and British strikes, with witnesses reporting several loud explosions and smoke rising from the eastern part of the capital.
The US-led strikes hit a research facility in the Barzeh district, according to sources. Syrian state media said the strikes targeted Damascus and surrounding areas.
The US Department of Defense announced that it used Storm Shadow missiles to target a Syrian military facility located about 24 km west of Homs, asserting that the site contained “precursors” for making chemical weapons.

Syrian air defenses shot down 13 missiles in the Kiswah area south of Damascus, according to state TV channel SANA.
A US official also told Reuters on April 13 that the US was using Tomahawk cruise missiles to attack multiple targets in Syria. The official did not disclose whether US fighter jets were involved in the attack.
Last April, US President Donald Trump fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at Syria's Al Shayrat military airport in response to an alleged chemical attack in Idlib province.
