"Malia and Sasha, on a cold November day eight years ago, we welcomed you to the White House doors. Your eyes were a mixture of excitement and caution as you looked into your new home," Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager, daughters of former President George W. Bush, wrote in a letter to Malia and Sasha, daughter of President Barack Obama. In the photo, Jenna introduces Malia and Sasha to White House staff. |

The Bush sisters then took time off from work to return to Washington to act as guides for the two young girls who would become their "First Children." "The four of us wandered the grand halls of the house we were forced to move into," they wrote. Sasha slid down a ramp in the White House. |

Sasha clung to the railing of the White House hallway. |

"When you slide down the railing into the sunroom, like we did when we were 8 and again when we were 20, your joy and laughter is contagious," the Bush daughters said. |

The Obama girls were given a tour of the famous Lincoln Bedroom and other bedrooms. |

Sharing with Today, Jenna said that she and Barbara feel life after leaving the White House is "really great" and hopes Malia and Sasha feel the same. "Eight years have gone by so fast and they have become great girls. We just want to make sure they know that," Jenna said.
