President Ho Chi Minh's advice to teachers
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh paid great attention to the cause of education and training people for the new society and for the Vietnamese nation. Throughout his life, he devoted so much thought to the cause of education. Before his passing, he affectionately reminded: "Cultivating a revolutionary generation for future generations is a very important and necessary task."
In his "Letter to Students," dated September 5, 1945, Uncle Ho wrote: "Today, you are more fortunate than your fathers and brothers because you have the opportunity to receive an education from an independent country, an education that will train you to become useful citizens for Vietnam, an education that will fully develop your inherent abilities."

Uncle Ho encouraged students to study diligently to bring glory to the nation: “After 80 years of slavery that weakened our country, today we need to rebuild the foundation that our ancestors left us, so that we can catch up with other nations around the world. In this reconstruction effort, the nation expects a great deal from you. Whether the Vietnamese land will become beautiful and prosperous, whether the Vietnamese people will reach the pinnacle of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world, depends largely on your studies.”
President Ho Chi Minh emphasized the mission of teachers: “What could be more glorious than the profession of training future generations who actively contribute to building socialism and communism? A good teacher – a teacher worthy of being called a teacher – is the most glorious person… good teachers are unsung heroes… Without teachers to educate the children of the people, how could we build socialism? Therefore, the teaching profession is very important, very glorious.”

To fulfill that glorious mission, teachers must possess good qualities. Uncle Ho reminded us: “Teachers must pay attention to both talent and virtue; talent refers to culture and expertise, while virtue refers to politics. If we want students to be virtuous, teachers must be virtuous… Therefore, teachers must be exemplary, especially for children.”
In his Testament, President Ho Chi Minh emphasized the Party's responsibility in caring for and educating the younger generation:"The Party needs to focus on educating them in revolutionary ethics, training them to become successors who will build a socialist society that is both 'red' (ideologically sound) and 'expert' (professionally competent). Nurturing a revolutionary generation for future generations is a very important and necessary task."
In his last letter to the education sector on October 15, 1968, President Ho Chi Minh reiterated the requirement for Vietnam's education system to strive to catch up with the level and quality of civilized and advanced countries: "On the foundation of good political education and ideological leadership, we must strive to improve the quality of culture and professional skills in order to practically solve the problems posed by our country's revolution and, in the not too distant future, reach the pinnacles of science and technology."

In the letter, President Ho Chi Minh reminded teachers, staff, students, and pupils of the following three points:
Firstly, teachers and students must always enhance their love for the Fatherland and socialism, strengthen revolutionary feelings towards the workers and peasants, be absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause, thoroughly trust in the leadership of the Party, be ready to accept any task assigned by the Party and the people, and always strive to be worthy of the heroic people of the South;
Secondly, no matter how difficult the circumstances, we must continue to strive for excellence in teaching and learning. Building upon a solid foundation of political education and ideological leadership, we must endeavor to improve the quality of culture and professional skills in order to practically address the challenges posed by our country's revolution and, in the not-too-distant future, reach the pinnacles of science and technology.
Thirdly, teachers and students must work together to organize and manage the material and spiritual life in schools better and better, strengthening health and safety. Emphasizing the mission of teachers, in his letter, Uncle Ho wrote: "The task of teachers is very important and very glorious."

At the end of the letter, Uncle Ho emphasized the requirements of the national education system: "Education is the undertaking of the masses. It is necessary to fully promote socialist democracy, build truly good relationships, and foster close solidarity between teachers and teachers, between teachers and students, among students themselves, among officials at all levels, and between schools and the people in order to successfully accomplish this task."
In the campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh," November 20th, Vietnamese Teachers' Day, serves as a reminder for teachers to always reflect on their character in the noble task of educating future generations. For in the journey of life, regardless of position or age, the image of a teacher remains radiant and imbued with profound humanity. The character of a teacher, according to Ho Chi Minh's moral example, illuminates the path to fulfilling the mission of nurturing future generations.
