The best cheap used car models chosen by users
Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Subaru are names that appear frequently in the list of best used cars under 20,000 USD in 2017 voted by Consumer Reports readers.
After analyzing and synthesizing evaluation information as well as hundreds of thousands of survey results, Consumer Reports recently announced a list of the best used cars under $20,000 (in the US) of 2017.
Japanese and Korean automakers dominate the small car segment, with representatives such as Honda Fit, KIA Soul, Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Prius and Scion xB. The only American model to appear on the list is the Pontiac Vibe, but this is basically a rebadged Toyota Matrix.
Meanwhile, those looking for a mid-size sedan at a good price can consider the Honda Accord, Mazda6 or Toyota Camry.

In the affordable luxury car category, the Acura TL, Acura TSX, Infiniti G, Infiniti M, Lexus CT, Lexus ES, Lexus GS and Lexus LS are notable names. The only German representative on the list is the 2010-2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The best used sports cars under $20,000 include the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, while in the wagon segment are the Toyota Prius V and Toyota Venza.
All the SUVs on this list are from Japanese brands, including the Acura RDX, Honda CR-V, Lexus RX, and Mazda CX-5. Toyota alone has four representatives: 4Runner, Highlander, RAV4, and Sequoia.
Despite leading the pickup truck segment in their home country, Ford and General Motors did not appear once on the list compiled by Consumer Reports. The Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tundra were the two most trusted vehicles by users.
