Car of the Year 2022 Winners
The winning models in each segment were announced at the 2022 Car of the Year Awards Ceremony on the evening of December 22 in Ho Chi Minh City, alongside the overall winner of the Car of the Year award.
The 2022 Car Awards honor the 7 highest-scoring models in 7 segments, in addition to the model that won the grand prize of Car of the Year.

The Honda HR-V beat out two strong contenders, the Volkswagen T-Cross and the Hyundai Creta, to win the 2022 Car of the Year in the B-Segment Crossover segment. The Honda model scored 285.3 points, 15 points ahead of its second-placed rival, the T-Cross (269.7 points). This is the largest score difference in each category of the 2022 Car Awards.
In the new generation, HR-V has a more modern and youthful design than the previous generation. The highest-end version of this model is equipped with a 1.5 turbo engine like on the Civic and CR-V. Recently, the car has an additional G version with a price of nearly 700 million, which is a cheap choice for a B-size crossover model.

C-segment sedans are the most competitive segment in the market in 2022 when most models have new versions or new generations. Therefore, the gap between models according to the judges' assessment is not too different. The victory belongs to Honda Civic with 304.7 points, 6.8 points higher than Hyundai Elantra.
Civic balances design, comfort and performance. In this generation, the design is no longer as rebellious as before but has shifted to a gentle, elegant direction. Performance is still the strong point of Civic through the generations.
C-size Crossover - Hyundai Tucson

With only 0.9 points more, Hyundai Tucson (307.2 points) surpassed its compatriot Kia Sportage (306.3 points) to take the throne at the Car Awards.
Tucson is rated the highest this year for its changes in exterior, interior, technology content, and amenities. The cockpit is compactly designed, functions are oriented towards the driver, electronic gear lever is push-button... The changes of Tucson are more user-friendly, not to mention the car's engine has 3 configuration options, corresponding to 4 versions.
D-size SUV/Crosover - Ford Everest

Ford's SUV won 316.9 points from the jury, surpassing the two remaining candidates, VinFast VF8 with 306.3 points and Mazda CX-8, 292.3 points.
The new design language with the masculine, solid American style of Ford Everest continues to create great attraction for customers in Vietnam. Ford launched many versions for Everest, spanning many different price ranges with 2 options of single turbocharger and twin turbocharger 2.0, the most powerful capacity in the segment.
Compact popular MPV - Mitsubishi Xpander

The small popular MPV category had 7 nominations, but Xpander showed its superiority when receiving 282.2 points from the Jury, the Korean brand Kia Carens came in second with 269.8 points.
The upgraded version of Xpander was launched in June with a series of upgrades in both equipment and appearance. The design of the Japanese MPV model, which was youthful in the old version, is now more individual. The interior of Xpander is newly designed, compact and modern, eliminating the prejudice about a family car combined with a popular service model that is often inclined towards practicality.
Compact luxury car - Volvo XC60 Recharge

Volvo XC60 Recharge, a Swedish brand with 335.8 points from the Expert Council, surpassed its German rival Porsche Macan to win Car of the Year in the compact luxury high-chassis segment by a very close margin: 1.7 points.
Swedish car model Exterior design, interior less ostentatious. After many years in Vietnam, the calm Nordic style in Volvo car design has gradually become more pleasing to the eye and more popular with customers.
Large luxury high-chassis car - Range Rover

The LX 600 and Range Rover were the two most anticipated cars. As a result, the award for Car of the Year in the large luxury segment went to the Land Rover Range Rover. The British brand received 351.1 points from the judges. The runner-up was the model that is currently sold out at dealers, the Lexus LX 600 with 343.5 points.
Range Rover is highly appreciated for its combination of many advantages, from design, equipment to engine performance. On Land Rover's flagship SUV, the list of amenities can overwhelm customers. Almost everything on the car is electrically adjusted, touch and automatic. For the upper class, Range Rover has the highest price of up to nearly 24 billion VND, the most expensive in the segment.
Car of the year overall
The Ford Everest and Volvo XC60 Recharge both received the same number of votes from the judges for the overall title of Car of the Year. Based on the criteria for Car of the Year, including the ability to meet global industry trends, competitiveness in the segment, customer accessibility... The Organizing Committee decided to award the highest award to the XC60 Recharge. With plug-in hybrid engine technology (running on gasoline and charging electricity), the XC60 represents the right development trend of the world's automobile industry.
