(Baonghean.vn) -The project to develop sow and pork farming of the Thach Son commune Party Committee identifies "livestock farming as an important breakthrough, contributing to the restructuring of the agricultural economy, increasing the income of breeders, reducing poverty and developing sustainably".

Based on clearly identifying the difficulties as well as the advantages and potentials of the locality, before implementing the project, the Party Committee of Thach Son commune assigned party members to be in charge of each village. In addition to disseminating the content, purpose and implementation plan of the project, cadres and party members are the exemplary pioneers in implementing it.

Accordingly, the Party Committee of Thach Son commune has assigned the Farmers' Association to implement the project for members to implement and monitor its effectiveness. With the participation and implementation of the project's contents in a fairly systematic and scientific manner, there have been many models of raising sows and pigs that have brought high economic efficiency.

A typical example is the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Truong in Hamlet 7, Thach Son Commune, who is one of the successful households in pig farming. Starting to build a large-scale farm in 2011, Ms. Truong's family mainly raises pigs for meat. At its peak, her family had up to 100 pigs. Each year, she sells 4 batches. After deducting expenses or fluctuating prices, each year she still makes a profit of over 100 million VND.

Currently, Ms. Khanh's family has 5 sows and 30 pigs, at peak times there are up to 80 pigs. Ms. Khanh said that each year, a sow gives birth to 2 litters and each litter gives birth to 10 piglets. Most of the piglets are raised by the family to sell for meat. Raising sows and pigs has brought her family hundreds of millions of dong in income each year. In the future, the family will continue to expand the breeding area to expand the area of ​​pig farming.

In order for the project to be effective, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Thach Son commune have created all conditions to encourage people to focus on developing livestock farming in the direction of commodities; applying scientific and technological advances in production to increase productivity. The Party Committee of the commune has directed mass organizations to coordinate with the District Social Policy Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to sign trust and credit agreements so that people have capital to invest in livestock farming, including creating conditions for poor and near-poor households to borrow capital. Up to now, these subjects have been able to borrow capital for economic development with an amount of 8.4 billion VND.

The work of preventing and controlling epidemics for livestock is also given special attention and focus by Thach Son commune, such as promoting propaganda on the loudspeaker system about the epidemic situation so that people can proactively take preventive measures for their livestock. Every year, the commune organizes vaccination for livestock and poultry, reaching over 80%; spraying and disinfecting livestock barns, reaching over 90%.

Comrade Nguyen Tai Anh, Party Secretary of Thach Son Commune, said: After the Party Committee of the commune deployed and developed a project to develop sow and pork farming, it helped farmers in Thach Son Commune to switch from small-scale farming to concentrated farming in the direction of commodity production, thereby better managing the herds, effectively preventing diseases, and bringing higher economic efficiency. Up to now, the whole commune of Thach Son has a total herd of 2,083 pigs, of which 1,722 are pigs, 361 are sows, reaching 126% of the plan. The development of livestock farming has created more income, improved the lives of people; contributed significantly to the economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction of the locality.
