Memorable Rooster years in national history

The history of the Vietnamese people has marked many important and memorable events. In particular, the years of the Rooster are also deeply engraved in the memory of our people with many brilliant milestones.

Year of the Rooster 1009:Ly Cong Uan was enthroned, giving birth to the Ly dynasty and the centralized feudal system. He granted a national amnesty, abolished prisons and lawsuits, and allowed people with disputes and lawsuits to come to the court to present their cases. The king himself would judge.

Year of the Rooster 1105:The day of the death of national hero Ly Thuong Kiet. He was a talented general, proficient in military strategy, served as an official under three kings, had the merit of "defeating the Song, pacifying the Champa" and was the first person to write a work affirming national sovereignty "Nam Quoc Son Ha".

Year of the Fire Rooster 1117: The Ly Dynasty suffered a great loss, when Empress Dowager Y Lan (Linh Nhan Hoang Thai Hau) passed away. She was the concubine of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, the biological mother of Emperor Ly Nhan Tong, and was a person who made great contributions in helping her husband rule the country and was respected by the people.

Year of the Rooster 1225:Ly Chieu Hoang got married and then abdicated the throne to her husband Tran Canh, ending the Ly dynasty and beginning the Tran dynasty.

Year of the Rooster 1285:During the reign of King Tran Nhan Tong, Hung Dao Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan and the Tran army and people defeated 500,000 Yuan (Mongol) troops. After the victories at Chuong Duong, Ham Tu, Tay Ket, and Van Kiep, in June 1285, the Tran army and people liberated the capital Thang Long.

Year of the Fire Rooster 1357: King Tran Minh Tong passed away. Tran Minh Tong was crowned by his father (Tran Anh Tong) when he was only 14 years old and was the 5th emperor of the Tran Dynasty. He was praised by history as a wise emperor who knew how to use talented people such as Truong Han Sieu, Doan Nhu Hai, Pham Su Manh... and maintained the economic and social prosperity from his father's time.

Year of the Rooster 1789:Right on the occasion of Tet, King Quang Trung (Nguyen Hue) led the Tay Son army to quickly advance to the North, established the glorious victories of Ngoc Hoi, Khuong Thuong, and Dong Da, defeated 290,000 Qing invaders, liberated Thang Long, and unified the country.

Year of the Rooster 1861:The people of the South steadfastly rose up against the French invasion with major uprisings by Nguyen Trung Truc, Truong Dinh, Phan Van Dat, Cao Dung...

Year of the Rooster 1873:Governor Nguyen Tri Phuong passed away. He was a mandarin famous for his bravery and strategy. In 1872, he was appointed to the position of Grand Inspector of the Imperial Court, representing the court in reviewing military affairs in the North.

November 1873,The French occupied Hanoi citadel, he was captured while seriously wounded. He refused treatment and went on a hunger strike before dying.

Year of the Rooster 1885:After King Kien Phuc was deposed, 12-year-old Prince Ung Lich ascended the throne with the name Ham Nghi. On July 13, 1885, King Ham Nghi issued the Can Vuong edict calling on all people to rise up against the French invaders. The Can Vuong movement was strongly supported by people across the country, typically the Huong Khe uprising.

Year of the Rooster 1945:This year marks many important events in Vietnamese history.

The historic famine that occurred from late 1944 to around May 1945 caused more than 2 million people to starve to death, the main cause being the ruling policy of the invading French colonialists.

Also in this year, the August Revolution succeeded. On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Year of the Rooster 1969:President Ho Chi Minh, National Liberation Hero, Cultural Celebrity of Humanity passed away, leaving behind infinite sorrow for the Vietnamese people and international friends.
