Creative startups
Starting a business is becoming an inevitable need for students of the Faculty of Economics. However, starting a business is not easy, or can be said to be extremely difficult for young people while still in school, because they have high determination, creativity, but lack experience, or investment capital. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy (Secretary of the Faculty's Youth Union) said: "Understanding that need, the Faculty of Economics has "taken part" in educating students about entrepreneurship. Connecting resources to support the student startup movement is one of the key contents identified annually by the Faculty of Economics". The spirit of entrepreneurship is created as a creative activity, an experience in the learning process, arousing the will to establish a career, to get rich with strength and knowledge.
Accompanying this activity, in the 2016-2017 school year, the Faculty of Economics organized the contest “Student Startup Projects and Ideas”, creating a new playground for students with the goal of becoming an interesting and colorful annual “specialty” of economics students. The Faculty Youth Union in collaboration with subject groups and student managers promoted the meaning of the contest and guided each student on how to implement startup ideas. With a strong wave of spread, the Faculty Youth Union received more than 20 startup projects from students currently studying as well as graduated students.

In addition, the faculty also established a consulting team consisting of teachers majoring in Business Administration and Investment Economics to guide, answer questions, and advise on how to plan and design perfect business ideas. At the "Creative Startup Ideas" contest organized by Nghe An Provincial Youth Union in 2017, groups of students majoring in Investment Economics had 5/8 startup projects reaching the final round.
It can be affirmed that the faculty's current startup programs contribute to creating a startup ecosystem, helping students realize their "project children". Tran Thi Thuy Hang (former student of the Faculty of Economics), along with her colleagues who are successful with the project "Business of Nghe An specialties" shared: "By trying their hand and "rubbing" with many competitions organized by the faculty, students gain more practical experience and become more dynamic and creative, becoming young people with an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, these activities have contributed to developing necessary soft skills for students of the Faculty of Economics such as: communication skills, presentation, teamwork, event organization, leadership, and business project development".
Along with competitions, forums, open and friendly creative spaces, students can follow the common path of entrepreneurship, but if they want to start a creative business, they need many other qualities, especially research capacity. Every year, students of the faculty actively participate in scientific research. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Secretary of the Faculty Youth Union shared: "To create a good professional foundation for students, in scientific research activities, there is always the companionship and support of subject teachers. From there, it helps students to fully develop their abilities and intelligence, discover many attractive topics with high applicability".
"Lighting" the movement
In addition to studying, the student volunteer program is a clear activity in the student movement of the faculty, attracting a large number of student union members to participate and becoming an indispensable need over the years. The faculty's union has established a student volunteer team, with a pioneering spirit, this core force is always ready to go anywhere, do anything, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere.
Activities such as “Volunteer Summer”, “Warm Winter”, social activities at Nghe An War Invalids Center and Lam Bich Children’s Village (Doai Commune, Nghi Loc) are meaningful and healthy environments, not only attracting more and more students to participate, with increasingly diverse forms, but also marking the works associated with the volunteer movement.
The clubs, associations and groups of the faculty have also made many positive contributions to the school and province's movements. Specifically, the Hoa Champa Club organizes 3 sessions/week to teach Vietnamese and English for Lao students to help them raise their awareness of learning foreign languages, improve their Vietnamese; at the same time, it supports tutoring in specialized subjects for Lao students. Not only that, the faculty's volunteer student team also participates in the volunteer team of the Provincial Youth Union to go to the provinces of Laos, which shares a border with Nghe An, to teach and participate in social activities such as building houses, repairing electricity and roads for the people of the neighboring country.
The “Warm Winter” volunteer movement was organized by the faculty in disadvantaged mountainous districts such as Tuong Duong, Ky Son, and Que Phong. Along with that, promoting the strengths of economic students, creating an environment to get acquainted with business and raising funds for social activities, the faculty’s volunteer team also established “Loving Laundry”.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy (Secretary of the Faculty Youth Union) affirmed: “It can be said that through volunteer activities, students have promoted their talents and creativity of youth, affirmed their role for social life, and at the same time had the opportunity to practice and mature from practice”. Through these activities, typical factors and excellent student union members were discovered to nurture and admit into the Party. In the 2015-2017 term, the Faculty of Economics Youth Union introduced 81 outstanding union members to the Faculty Party Committee, adding to the team of young party members who are “both red and professional”.
The Faculty of Economics Youth Union has regularly been awarded certificates of merit by all levels of the Youth Union and Association, such as: Certificate of merit "For active contributions to the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement" by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Communist Youth Union from 2012 to present, Certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association in the work of the Youth Union and the student movement; Certificate of merit from the Provincial Youth Union "For outstanding achievements in implementing two movements: "5 shock troops" for socio-economic development and national defense", and "4 companions" with young people to establish their careers"; Certificates of merit at all levels in the volunteer campaign movement...
