The 'golden' rules of driving a car

Owning a car is the dream of many people, but not all drivers know how to drive safely, especially new drivers.

To avoid risks, drivers must master the following principles:

Focus on driving

In fact, subjective and objective factors greatly affect drivers, so drivers must know how to limit them. Do not do personal work and do not drink alcohol to focus on every journey.

Master the speed

This is also one of the very important principles for you to drive more safely. While driving, the driver must concentrate highly, should not drive too fast even on empty roads. This helps you to be able to proactively handle unexpected situations.

For the accelerator pedal, the driver needs to practice the habit of controlling it very gently. When applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, you should gradually press down and practice listening and feeling the engine sound gradually increase. You should not press it with too much force.

Watch out for oncoming traffic.

When a car is coming from the opposite direction, the driver will often feel like they are about to collide. An inexperienced driver will easily lose control of the car due to sharp turns. In this case, you need to be mentally stable and handle the situation calmly to avoid an unfortunate accident.

Keep a safe distance

To maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, drivers can apply the 3-second rule. Specifically, choose a landmark on the side of the road and count to 3. If your car reaches the chosen landmark after 3 seconds, the distance to the vehicle in front is safe.

In addition, if the vehicle is traveling at 60 km/h, or 16.7 m/s, the minimum safe distance from the vehicle in front will be calculated as 16.7 x 3 = 50.1 m. However, in bad weather conditions, dark, slippery roads, fog, ... the driver should reduce the vehicle speed by at least 2/3 to ensure safety.

Understand traffic signals

Many drivers do not take this seriously and think it is a small thing, but it is an important factor to ensure traffic safety and help drivers avoid being fined by traffic police.

Put your heel on the brake pedal

While driving, the driver must place the heel of the right foot in line with the brake pedal. When needing to accelerate, the heel should be fixed and the toe of the shoe should be tilted to the right to meet the accelerator pedal (the heel should not be moved when controlling the accelerator and brake).

Every morning when you get in the car after starting the engine, you should not move immediately. You should spend 5 minutes sitting in the driver's seat practicing moving your right foot back and forth between the gas and brake pedals to practice the above operation.
